Wobble Wednesday: Pretty Lights “A Color Map of the Sun” [Video Teaser]

Derek Vincent Smith, whom you might know under the moniker of Pretty Lights, is just too cool. This video he posted on PLM’s youtube channel, showcasing his new album, “A Color Map of the Sun”, solidifies how cool he really is. It’s simple, the man has a vision and a passion that pours out into each and every one of his productions that is so evident and easy to absorb. Whether it’s orchestrating a symphony, playing a live instrument, correcting a vocalist, Derek knows what Derek wants, and it will be done to perfection. Grabbing sounds and emotions from all generations, decades, and cultures, Pretty Lights, has cultivated an untouchably unique and distinct sound that takes absolutely no shortcuts in terms of production. Get ready, “A Color Map of the Sun” will be exposed to the public on July 2nd, 2013.This is what Derek had to say about this video:

“The first half of this video is part of a track from the Live Studio Sessions recordings of the new Pretty Lights album, “A Color Map of the Sun.” The second half is the song that was made from sampling the first recording. The purpose of the video is to show the production process of the album; homemade vinyl + modular synthesis.”

Alas, it is finally here, I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this for way too long! Bro Safari & UFO! have been hyping up an album for over a year that has never hit the market, but I can rightfully say that the wait was worth it. This 10 track LP titled, “Animal” has something for all lovers of bass. Whether you like moombahton, glitch-hop, trap, dubstep, downtempo, uptempo, drum & bass etc. there is something for you! It’s quite impressive the genres that they spanned and how stunning each individual track turned out. I’ll keep the review short and let Bro Safari & UFO! do the talking:

Here it is. The album that we’ve been talking about for over a year. Scheduling conflicts be damned, we made it happen! Yes, the process was long, and at times it was even a little grueling, but we stuck to our guns and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

Originally, we created about 16 tracks for the album, and then we narrowed it down to the songs that you have in front of you today. It was important to us that we create a collection of music that crossed multiple styles and genres, yet told a coherent story. It’s not an easy thing to do, but we feel like we pulled it off by using themes, samples, techniques and by consciously assessing what did and did not work together.

We feel like there is something for everyone on this record and we’re very pleased with the fact that we can offer this to everyone for free. All we ask is that you listen to it with an open mind, share it with your friends and come say hello whenever we play a show in your city.

So, once again – Thank you to each and every person that showed us support over the last few years. We love working together, and have already discussed plans for a follow up album.

For now, enjoy ANIMAL!

Back in 2012, LA based producer, Flinch, teamed up with the angelic soul and vocals of Ellie Goulding to create the lovestep infused masterpiece titled, “You Don’t Know”. Fast forward one calendar year and we finally have the studio version posted on Flinch’s Soundcloud, and the wait was ever so worth it. With Flinch’s distinctly crafted basslines crossing path’s with Ellie’s ravishingly smooth vocals, “You Don’t Know” hits the spot in so many ways for me. I would highly suggest letting this blissful melody and Ellie’s unmatched vocals succumb your speakers for the entire 4:13 life span of this gem. We will keep you posted on the official release for this track, for now, click play and thank me later, enjoy!

Well, I think it’s safe to say this could be the best dubstep track to surface in quite a long time. Whenever you see a release from the notorious Circus Records, you should immediately prepare for an absolute smashing tune packed with emotion, heavy bass modulation, and that classic UK sound. This track emulates that to a tee and Cookie Monsta & Flux Pavilion have come together to deliver just that and so much more. The vocal sample of “Come Find Me” is integrated into a track that is lead by a whisping melody, an intricate drum pattern and a drop that will have you begging for more. It’s so distinct to hear where Flux & Cookie each took the lead and added their own special spice to turn this tune into a full proof banger. Have a listen for yourself and get ready because the Circus Two album is set to drop May 13th, with this track and 24 other quality compositions from the UK based Circus Records.

Wobble Wednesday: Knife Party – LRAD (The Trap Remixes) [Free Download]

lrad - techiHere we have something a bit more special than normal on this fine Wobble Wednesday: a compilation of three of the freshest trap remixes of Knife Party’s newest rager, “LRAD.” We couldn’t decide which was our favorite so we wanted you guys to decide for us! First we have Boombox Cartel’s “WTF Is Festival Trap Remix” that absolutely kills it with the crazy syncopated tribal rhythms off of his too hot to trot festival trap beats. If this remix doesn’t get you hyped and filled with energy then I don’t know what will. Next, we have CRNKN’s “FESTIE RMX” which turns the lights down a bit with more space for bass rather then trap induced high hats or snare drum patterns. Finally but definitely not least, we have Candyland’s “OG Remix” which is for sure a panty dropper with it’s fat bass drops playing off of the tribal drums beats of the original. All in all, each remix brings something completely different to the table, but each is incredibly good in it’s own way and for the purpose of which each artist saw fit. Listen to them all below and feel free to download each and everyone one of them for FREE thanks to our friends Boombox Cartel, CRNKN, and Candyland. Enjoy!

Wobble Wednesday: Tommy Trash vs. Aston Shuffle – Sunrise (Spaveech TRAP Remix) [Free Download]

artworks-000047479845-38hejb-t500x500

If you remember a few months back, our good buddy Spaveech did an exclusive mix for us which entailed 5 unreleased remixes. This is one of the remixes I’ve been most anxious to get a final mastered version on and share with all of you. He has flawlessly taken the festival anthem, “Sunrise”, and completely handcrafted it into his own rendition with a lot of bass to really supe it up. This 808 driven remix is absolutely on point from start to finish. Encompassing and really focusing on the catchy vocal hook and melody that “Sunrise” is built around, the combination of Spaveech’s creativity and the original stems of this track go together like “lamb and tuna fish” (name that movie). As always, Spaveech has graciously allotted this track to be downloaded for free, for the simple price of liking his facebook page. Spaveech has gained a lot of support and momentum in recent months and shows absolutely no sign of slowing down, keep your eyes peeled for this New Jersey native and the big things that are to come.

Wobble Wednesday: Rihanna – Stay (Butch Clancy Remix) [Free Download]

artworks-000046725457-ll70wb-t500x500

You know those songs that just captivate you from start to finish? There’s really nothing I enjoy more, but I would never expect that seven minutes in heaven to come from a Rihanna remix categorized under dubstep. However, this 7:27 masterpiece constructed by the bass driven maestro, Butch Clancy, absolutely seduced me. With the catchy piano melody laid out that is then overpowered by Rihanna’s beautiful vocals the only thing that was scaring me was a drop that would ruin the moment. Butch delivered massively and flawlessly sculpted out a bass line and synth combination of epic “lovestep” proportions. The way this song just impeccably flows and takes you on a journey is something else. I would highly advise taking advantage of this free download and letting the combination of Butch Clancy & Rihanna mesmerize you.
