Kanye West Performs What Is Possibly His Collaboration With Daft Punk

In a recent interview with Mixmag Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter revealed that the french duo had worked with Kanye West on his upcoming album. When speaking about the studio session Bangalter remarked “When the first 15-second snippet of ‘Get Lucky’ came out, Kanye came to our studio in Paris and we worked on loads of different ideas together. We’re not sure how many tracks we will have on [his new, forthcoming] album yet.”

“The music we worked on with Kanye was super primal and raw and super violent. It was the opposite of our new album in lots of ways. It was really exciting to do something completely raw.”

While the name of the collaboration is not yet confirmed, Kanye recently performed a single off his upcoming album titled ‘Black Skinhead’. Similarly to Bangalter’s description of the session with West as very ‘raw’ and ‘violent’, Kanye’s SNL performance showcased a very dark track as he screamed into the mic.

If this is indeed the collaboration between West and Daft Punk it seems that the duo has not completely adopted the disco, indie sound that characterizes Random Access Memories. We will keep you updated with more details as the are announced and watch for the release of Kanye’s album on June 18th.

Mysterious Swedish House Mafia Campaign Uncovered

Recently a few short videos of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello were released showing the former Swedish House Mafia members pensively contemplating in an epic landscape of mountains and ocean. The videos were accompanied by a mysterious website that created a frenzy of speculation as to the meaning of the new campaign.

Today a longer video was released featuring a mellow rendition of the group’s track ‘Leave The World Behind’ with Lune, announcing the newly launched partnership between the trio and Swedish car manufacturer Volvo. The partnership marks the launch of Volvo’s new crossover model, XC90. It seems that the group will most likely not be getting back together as many people had guessed but they are clearly still riding on the tidal wave of success they achieved. Check out Volvo’s website here for more info.
