Wobble Wednesday: Disclosure – You & Me feat. Eliza Doolittle (Baauer Remix) [Preview]

baauer remix - techi

When I saw that Baauer had remixed Disclosure and Eliza Doolittle’s “You & Me” I couldn’t help but assume that it would be a typical trap remix. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Baauer is incredibly versatile and fully capable of surprising his now huge fan base. He sped up the tempo, raised Eliza Doolittle’s voice even higher, and completely altered the entire feel of “You & Me” with the beat, while retaining its most quintessential components. The fact that Baauer is branching out from his typical trap sound which brought him to fame speaks wonders about his future and his willingness to experiment with contemporary sounds. Take a listen to the preview below and make sure to pick up the official copy when it drops on May 21st. Enjoy!

Phoenix – Entertainment (Hot Natured Remix)

phonix - techi

Phoenix has been killing it this past year with their countless festival headlines this summer and their rise back to the top with the release of their latest album Bankrupt. Hot Natured has only  increased the hype surrounding Phoenix with their remix of Phoenix’s hit single off of Bankrupt, “Entertainment.” Straying far away from the original energy, hard hitting beats, and up-tempo from the original, Hot Natured turns the “Entertainment” into a very chill, disco/house track that is just as, if not more, pleasing to the ear. Thomas Mars’ vocal samples are stellar on top of the layers of funky bass, disco-inspired percussion, and syncopated synth stabs produced by Hot Natured. Enjoy!

TÂCHES – Don’t You Know [Free Download]

To be honest, this track caught me by surprise. With its swung rhythm and vocal chops, I was expecting a more soothing drop similar to that of the re-developing deep/UK house scene. Instead I was treated to a genre-blended smasher. TÂCHES has taken elements from across the board and made something completely their own. Big ups TÂCHES, or so it goes. As courtesy of Annie Mac’s weekly, FREE MUSIC MONDAYS, this track is up for grabs. Go ahead and grab your digital copy now.

Interview: Rednek

This Wobble Wednesday, we have a very special treat for the lovers of bass! We had the privilege of getting in touch overseas with UK’s beloved and charismatic speaker slayer, Rednek, to get an exclusive interview with the Jamaican-raised music making wonder. With two decades of production and first hand vision at the evolution of music under his belt, the name Rednek was embraced in 2011, and his plan of execution was evident. By completely self creating many sarcastic and entertaining videos that have turned him into a YouTube viral sensation, including, “How to Become a Dubstep Artist in One Month”, “I’m Not Skrillex”, and “They Call Me”, Rednek got his name out there and did it expeditiously. Fast forward to 2013 and Rednek has established himself as a genuine guy with a great sense of humor who knows how to cause absolute mayhem upon hitting the decks in a live performance. Oh yeah, how could we forget about his massive hits that sometimes even include his own vocals? A true musician and a stand up guy, something that goes unnoticed too often. Rather than asking him the obvious, I wanted to get inside the mind of Rednek and expose his true colors. Grab his brand new album 50 Shades of Red on Beatport and check out his instant classics on his clever YouTube channel. Continue on after the jump to see our full interview with Rednek.

Wobble Wednesday: Roksonix – The Dogfight EP

Guy Abbott and Phil Desborough are childhood friends who grew up making music together in nearly every genre. After playing in various bands together in their teens and over the years experimenting with jungle, hip hop, and drum and bass; the Buckinghamshire, UK duo found their calling in dubstep. After hearing the legendary “FabricLive 37″ album by Caspa & Rusko a couple years back, the tandem wanted to give the 140bpm a shot of their own and adopted the alias, Roksonix. Once the name was confirmed, Abott & Desborough immediately started pumping out remixes to establish themselves, including their remixes of Imogen Heap’s “Hide & Seek”, Flux Pavilion’s “Voscilate”, and a personal favorite, their remix of Talay Riley’s “Sergeant Smash”. These three remixes that they produced in their first 10 months set the standard for their wide musical talent and premiered their newly found and extremely distinct sound. Fast forward a year and a half to the end of 2012, Roksonix is signed to the notorious Circus Records founded by Doctor P & Flux Pavilion, have many top notch productions under their belt, and have earned the ranking amongst the best in the dubstep game.

With their latest EP release titled, The Dogfight, Roksonix has confirmed why their international success is the real deal. Their UK roots prominently are distinguished upon hearing their noise that orchestrates throughout each individual production on this EP. Each of the four songs tells it’s own bass driven story and showcase their musical talent and chemistry that dates back to their youth. The Dogfight EP  delivers two 140bpm gems, a 110bpm banger and a sped up 175bpm DnB track featuring Jenna G that will have you thriving for more. Don’t pass this one up because it is by far one of the best bass infused EP’s of 2012. Happy Wobbles Y’all!

Jack Beats – Just A Beat [Preview]

The kings of fidget house are at again! Their newest track titled “Just A Beat” was released yesterday on their soundcloud and we are just as bummed as you are that there wasn’t a free download for it either. This is the first track Jack Beats has put out in nearly a month and it gives an excellent precursor for what’s to come on their next EP. It reminds me of the jungle; when I hear this track, I think of frogs in the jungle forming a band and jamming out on toadstools. There are a few ribbits here and there as well. This track is an absolute banger, and I, for one, can not wait for it to get released. Stay tuned for updates.
