Artist Interview: The Advent @ Soenda Festival

the AdventWe were fortunate enough to attend Soenda Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands to see The Advent live perform for an hour. This guy is one of the pioneers in the Techno scene and always makes sure that you will be blown away by his set. Formally known as Cisco Ferreira, the Advent had the opportunity to show us his skills in between Sasha Carassi and Tommy Four Seven. Even though these other names are also big, the Advent made sure with his big drops nobody could stand still one moment during his set. The intimate atmosphere in the ‘Komodo’ tent, a crowd going wild on wooden platforms even though they were soaking wet because of the rain and the Techno beats going through your ears. Ya, you noticed you’re a witness of seeing The Advent performing live.

After his memorable set we were able to catch up with him, see what he had to say after the jump!

With the over-saturation in electronic music today that’s being talked about by nearly all the major DJs in the industry, it must be so difficult to find music that doesn’t sound like everyone else. Well let me, present to you Go Freek’s remix of “Friends”. I have to admit, these guys completely caught me by surprise with this drop. Sorry Steve Angello, but I guess you were wrong about music lacking creativity nowadays. Don’t just take my word for it though. Let this song speak for itself.

SLDGHMR – Reset Album

artworks-000047706954-zdyn8h-t500x500

The latest release on Le Castle Vania’s Always Never Records featuring Miami based duo, SLDGHMR is nothing short of incredible. This 6 song album titled, Reset, features collaborations with both Louisahhh and You Love Her Coz She’s Dead. With this album, SLDGMR have showcased their innovation and ability to mesh the sounds and influence of many genres into one perfect sound. When listening to this album, I hear the groovey french nu-disco dominated sounds enhanced with the contemporary sounds of techno. While each track advertises a different feel and sound, the one thing they all have in common is the superior bass lines SLDGHMR have hand crafted. Cop the album, have a listen for yourself and enjoy the sounds of SLDGHMR!

Factures – Jeremy Olander (Original Mix)

sudbeatsEric Prydz has favorited Jeremy Olander’s production skills for quite some time with good reason. Out today through Sudbeat Music on Beatport is Olander’s latest track entitled “Factures”. The techno song features classic Olander simplicity with awesome funky elements. “Factures” is a highly danceable track, and though I am not a techno aficionado, I find this song to be very enjoyable and have listened to it over and over. Cirez D – Thunderstuck EP

thunderstruck

After much anxiety and anticipation for new music productions, Cirez D (Eric Prydz’s techno alias) has finally created two brilliant new tracks for our enjoyment. Together the tracks encompass the EP Thunderstuck, which includes the singles “Thunderstuck” and “Drums In The Deep”. The mini album was released today on Beatport through Mouseville, the label with which Prydz releases all Cirez D productions. Both tracks feature heavy baselines and techno synths, but are inherently different in their sounds. “Thunderstuck” has funkier elements to it and progresses to overlay a faster beat onto the original, with eerie vocals incomprehensible in the mix. “Drums In The Deep” begins with one simple sound repetition, and slowly builds with complexion and layers of synths. Have a listen to Cirez D’s latest creations, you will not be disappointed.

Boards of Canada Announces New Album “Tomorrow’s Harvest”

Tomorrow's Harvest

Boards of Canada fans were in for a surprise when a Redditor posted an interesting sample that he found during 2013′s Record Store Day, featuring a short clip of familiar-sounding ambient melodies amidst static. It was soon discovered to be part of a larger viral campaign that had fans scouring the video for eerie videos, codes, and audio clips; the hard work payed off and we’ve been rewarded with the announcement of Boards of Canada’s first release since 2006. This musical group helped define the ‘intelligent dance music’ scene along with artists like Aphex Twin, and their prowess with creating mystical, hypnotic music has been dearly missed. Fans of the group have been rejoicing with the great news, but if you missed out on the group during their initial run now’s the time to get caught up. We’ve included a few of their older tracks below, which should get you ready for when Tomorrow’s Harvest launches on June 10th with 17 new tracks.
