Axwell – Center of the Universe (Remode Version) [Preview]

Ultra Records was kind enough to share a radio rip of Axwell’s new track “Center of the Universe” off Pete Tong’s show. Eyes were on the now solo act to see how he would debut his new music, and while there have been a lot of negative comments regarding the rip, it’s nice to see the producer/dj go back to his house roots. Swedish House Mafia released similar tracks and never had a creative breakthrough according to many, yet this track shows potential in Axwell and his upcoming years in the business. Overall, a job well done. The vocals go nicely with the piano beat, and there is no need for a loud lead synth overpowering the rest of the track because of the balance between sounds. There’s no release date yet, but check out the stream above! Enjoy!

Depeche Mode – Soothe My Soul (Steve Angello & Jacques Lu Cont Remix)

Surprisingly, many people don’t know that the guys of Swedish House Mafia have been around for years, and many miss the old school sound that was so unique and simultaneously simple. Well, it looks like we took a time machine ride back to early 2000s because the old Steve Angello is back, ladies and gents! The Depeche Mode remix of my “Soothe My Soul” has quite an interesting collaboration featuring Angello with Jacques Lu Cont, also known as Stuart Price. Lu Cont is the production man behind many well known bands like The Killers and No Doubt, and single acts like Lady Gaga. With a few Grammy awards under his belt, Lu Cont is a seasoned producer. Both guys deliver their own unique part to the track; Lu Cont’s perfected production style, and Angello’s reflection of the classic Rock song through his vision. Utilizing the vocals in a perfect way, this is a high energy track with deep sounds and well fitted drum beats. Releasing June 5th, this is a remix you won’t want to miss out on. Check out the stream below and enjoy, cheers!

“He Might Have Left The Mafia But He’s Still A Boss” Steve Angello Delivers Massive Essential Mix

artworks-000044223765-73hlpi-t500x500

After a massive last gig in Miami with the Swedish House Mafia Steve Angello launches right back into his solo career with a bang as he joins pete tong on BBC Radio 1 for the legendary Essential Mix. This essential mix perfectly showcases Steve’s individual style with a strong presence of heavy tech and electro house tracks as well as many of the more predictable Swedish House Mafia set staples. I was also very happy to see that a Swedish duo that we have been championing for some time now, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, have two tracks featured in the mix. Their upcoming collaboration with AN21 titled ‘Rebel’ as well as their remix of ‘People Of The Night’ were both featured in this mix and will be out on Size Records later this year. You can listen to the mix and check out the track listing below.

Every now and then an artist comes around that captivates you with every sound he releases and every audience he touches and even more rarely do they come in packs of three. Since 2008, the trio reigning from Stockholm, Sweden has captured our hearts with every pounding anthem, allowing us to turn off our minds and turn on our hearts to a new movement of electronic music that brings people together. Through their continuous success of chart topping progressive house releases to record breaking sold out shows from Madison Square Garden to the Los Angeles Historic Park, the Swedish House Mafia have announced their split but have managed to leave us with one more unforgettable experience to say goodbye to their loyal fans. Their tracks are laced with such high energy that even the most prominent DJ’s could not resist including them in their sets. Just take a look at their most recent release, “Rasputin”, for example. Ultra Music Festival Phase 1 Lineup: Boys Noize, Bassnectar, & Armin Van Buuren?

A few names have been leaked for Ultra Music Festival’s Phase 1. We normally wouldn’t post this unless we had a legitimate confirmation from the UMF website but in this case, these names seem to be pretty reasonable for the line up. Names like Boys Noize Live and Bassnectar have been dropped, as well as Swedish House Mafia’s very last performance together. We will also most likely see Armin Van Buuren’s ASOT 600. Deadmau5 with lights and all is confirmed to play at UMF both weekends on March 16th and 23rd as he confirmed on his twitter, “Well, I caved in…. There was just too many of you guys asking me to play at ultra this year, so im doin it for you guys! :) viva la horde.” Although the rest is speculative, it is what we expect to see when UMF releases Phase 1 on flyers at select events and shows this weekend. Until then though, we can only keep our fingers crossed.
