I woke up in Miami knowing today may be the longest/craziest day of my entire life. At the same time I was more excited than a little kid on Christmas morning to get the day going. At 11am I grabbed a cab to head over to Nikki Beach for Robbie Rivera’s legendary Juicy Beach event. As I arrived to the scene, Faux Entertainment was very kind enough to hook me up with a staff pass to the event. [Read more...]

Neocube – Feel Me EP

It’s understandable if you’ve never heard of Gold Plate Recordings before now; this underground Russian label has been putting out a solid stream of tracks on the low, representing all kinds of styles from dubstep to trance. The Feel Me EP shows the label doing what it does best – a diverse collection of drum & bass tracks that range from powerful, head-nodding beats to relaxing, chill-out sounds. A personal favorite is Neocube’s “Feel Me” – a fun, energetic track with an absolutely gritty bass that just hits all the right spots. We’ve uploaded the EP tracks below, so give them a listen and show Gold Plate Recordings that their excellent drum & bass is appreciated overseas as well!

Carl Cox’s Opening @ Space in Ibiza

Space opening party is easily one of the most talked about and anticipated parties in the world. This year was no different from the moment the Techibeats team touched down on the Island the one constant was the buzz about Space and its massive opening fiesta headlined by no other than Carl Cox. For over a decade now Carl Cox has kept the dance floor jumping and the party moving into the wee hours of the night. The Sunday afternoon of May 27th was no different, Space opened sharply at 4:30pm and people starting filing in right away, most securing there spot on the car park dance floor as it is only open twice a year and packs in very early as the anticipation of Carl Cox’s set builds. By 6pm the car park was well on its way to being shoulder to shoulder, Orbital had just taken the stage and was getting the crowd moving with there unusual but energetic style.

As the night continued to build the crowd and energy followed suit, we slipped away from the car park here and there to check out some of the other rooms but managed to keep finding ourselves back in the car park for its unbeatable energy and sound. Dubfire took stage at just about 8:30 and absolutely set the crowd in motion for headliner Carl Cox to come on next. As Carl took stage just after 10pm there was just enough room in the car park for everybody to get there dance on. Carl started it off right playing everything from obscure techno tracks to the more melodic and fun tracks such as Green Velvet’s Milli Vanilli. In true Carl Cox fashion he continued to play an extra 2 and half hours after his set time and finally ended just after 2am but not before giving a final encore with one last song that must have lasted ten minutes.

We quickly made our way to the terrace to catch some of the Japanese Popstar’s set followed by 2manyDJs. Both acts absolutely tore the roof off the place; The Japanese Popstar’s energy and stylistic choices were a perfect compliment to 2ManyDJs heavy and original sound. As 2manyDJs finished up we hoofed it over to the Discoteca room presented by DJmag to catch a second round by Dubfire. As Dubfire finished up Nic Fanciulli made his way to the decks and brought the Discoteca room to life with his deep sounds and amazing light shows. As Nic Fanciulli finished up you could see space starting to thin out and only the true party warriors remained. We finally called it a night and just past 7am to bring the grand total of hours on the dance floor to just over 13, well worth it in our opinion.

Grimes – Skin (ChrisB. Remix) [Free Download]

Over the last two years, the original sounds of Los Angeles-based producer ChrisB. have taken the underground electronic music scene by storm. Always eager to push himself, this charismatic producer spends countless hours in the studio sharpening his own production skills, where his notoriously deep and sensual soundscapes take over the dance floor. As a key member of the Headtron crew, Chris is quite familiar with slaying dance floors like the Do Lab at Coachella. Armed with a voracious appetite for exploring new sounds, ChrisB. can set any party off with his glitchy, crunk-heavy beats and hard-hitting 808‘s. Always stri

ving to strike the perfect balance in his live sets, ChrisB. takes listeners on a psychedelic journey of beautiful melodies and driving bass. His new remix of Grimes' Skin is quite possibly the sexiest tune I've ever heard from this young bass slanger, and you might have even heard it during Sugarpill's set at Lightning in a Bottle this year. But anyhow, it's available to download for free, so enjoy!

Hardwell – Three Triangles

The dutch star Hardwell has been releasing banger after banger all year. Here we have a new track, ‘Three Triangles’, that is a little different from the Hardwell that we know. For this one Hardwell strays away from his usual hard hitting leads and moving melodies and moves more into the techno world. While this track is different, it definitely doesn’t lack on quality. ‘Three Triangles’ will be released on June 3rd via Toolroom Records so be sure to check back for that.

We also get to see some of the Amsterdam Dance Event as well as the Toolroom party at Escape. All of this with many great interviews and tons of other great footage,so be sure to check it out. Joachim Garraud & Alesia – Hook (Original Mix)

Largely responsible for the meteoric rise of artist such as David Guetta, Moby, and Robbie Rivera, Joachim Garraud has been a staple in the EDM industry for years. The space invader has also had major success of his own, releasing major titles such as “We Are The Future” and “Are U Ready?” in addition to his stunning live performances featuring his signature Keytar. The latest release from the Frenchman comes after a long period of wait, but definitely makes up for it. “Hook” sticks to much of Joachim’s original sound: video game type synths, big chords, and serious energy; but the track also features some intense, bass-heavy wobbles, giving it a little extra flavor. Turn your speakers up and enjoy!

If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure to check out our interview with Joachim HERE.
