Skream – Disco Set For Judie [Free Download]

skream1

Skream, one of the main figures in the dubstep movement has really been going back to his UK roots as of late and exploring sounds from past genres. He pioneered the mainsteramization of dubstep and has been rekindling the UK deep house garage movement as well as revamping the sounds of the nu disco. With his latest mix, titled “Disco Set For Jude” he displays his love and passion for the groove and vibrant sounds of disco. Judie, whoever you are, you are one lucky soul.

Rudimental – Waiting All Night EP

Waiting All Night

While the Disclosure brothers have been bringing house music back to the forefront of the UK music scene, the Rudimental quartet has been looking to do the same with drum & bass; the group’s single “Feel The Love” topped the charts in the UK and drew a lot of attention earlier this year. With the group gearing up to release their debut album Home on the 29th, they’ve released yet another EP. “Waiting All Night”, Home’s third single, is truly a pleasure for drum & bass fans, featuring the intense, fast breaks and soulful vocals that we’ve come to love from Rudimental. Despite my obsession with the group’s drum & bass, this EP showcases that they are quite willing to defy categorization; “Baby” pulls off a groovy, soulful house surprisingly well, and the remixes included on the EP definitely aren’t the standard fare. A nice surprise is Skream’s remix of “Hell Could Freeze”, which really showcases the artist’s shift from his old dubstep days into the house and disco styles; the remix is a lot of fun with its uplifting, funky sounds and earning the support of a veteran such as Skream is no small feat. We’ve included a selection of tracks below so check them out, and keep your eyes open for the album later on this month!

Network – Somebody [Preview]

The United Kingdom seems to be quite the hotspot for young, up and coming house producers nowadays. With the sudden revival of 90s house, producers across the globe including Skream and Kaskade are hopping back into the deep house grooves. One of the more notable artists I have come across though is Network. Otherwise known as Oli Johns, Network is a 17 year old producer with a knack for keeping my ears in a vice. His newest track, titled “Somebody” is a simple tune with a catchy melody and funky percussion. I am loving this one. Keep it up Oli. We will keep you all posted if he decides to release it.

Pete Tong & Skream – All Gone Pete Tong & Skream Miami 2013 (Album)

all gone pete tong

The latest in Defected’sAll Gone series features two of the most influential players in the electronic music scene (certainly in the UK at least) the masters Pete Tong and Skream, working together to create a groovy, diverse mix of house tracks. Skream one of the pioneers of original dubstep (back in the UK, where it was much heavier on the dub than it was on the wobbles), has been thrusting himself into the world of funkier house, techno, and disco tracks, although his knack for dark, bass heavy beats is still in strong display here. With Pete Tong’s unmatched knowledge of the electronic music world and Skream’s infectious energy, this mix was guaranteed to be a classic, and it is made all the better with the inclusion of new, exclusive tracks from both producers. Check out the preview below and grab the whole release on Beatport!

I Am Benga: Red Bull Documentary

Just weeks after we watched Red Bull Stratos, in which Felix Baumgartner performed a world breaking supersonic free fall from space, the documentary specialists at Red Bull have announced their newest project. Unlike their normal fast paced action packed footage, Red Bull will be capturing a thrill seeking adventure of it’s own kind, as they plan to get inside the mind of the bass driven legend, Benga. This six part series will follow and expose Benga’s massive year of 2012, in which he started his own record label (Benga Beats), formed his own live show on BBC Radio 1, and the year where he “removed himself from the dubstep genre”. Check the trailer out for yourself and prepare for an inside access of one of the most talented producers in the world.

This is what Benga has to say about the series himself:

“I’m incredibly excited about the series. I can’t wait to show everyone the amazing things I’ve been part of! There’s a great buzz around the show and everyone will get to see what’s next for me!”

Example & Laidback Luke – Eutopia (Fade Away) [Preview]

The legend himself, Laidback Luke, recently posted a snippet of a collaboration between himself and British producer Example titled “Eutopia (Fade Away)”. The track is coming off of Example’s new album, The Evolution of Man, set to be released on November 19th. This little gem gives good insight as to what to expect from Example’s 4th studio album, which is sure to feature several other massive singles and collaborations. We will be sure to make a post on the album once it is released, so make sure to keep checking back!
