Lightning In A Bottle Line Up Announced

With festival season in full swing, the people who bring you Lightning in a Bottle have officially released the upcoming acts. One of the amazing aspects of this event, located in Temecula, CA, is that it gives listeners and electronic music lovers a chance to hear the up and coming, the new and the fresh. Not only is it a festival filled with talented locals (and world renowned DJs), but LIB promotes sustainability and the artistic and creative mind. Here’s a fun fact: LIB has won 3 years in a row for Outstanding Greener Festival Award. This is a festival truly about loving your community, the world in which we live, the art we see and hear, and the experiences we share with people. If you haven’t ventured before, call up your friends and head straight for SoCal! Some artists causing quite a bit of excitement are Joel Mull, Nicolas Jaar, Papadosio, Christian Martin and more. Review: Resolution Seattle, WA

Five, four, three, two, one. Happy New Year! Seattle, Washington raged into the wee hours of New Year’s morning to celebrate the incoming of year 2013. The white and gold themed party attracted approximately 9,000 ravers to Wamu Theater, Seattle’s home to all massive raves. The electronic music celebration hosted two stages appropriately named “Time Capsule” and  ”Enchanted Forest”. Ticking LED clocks surrounded the main stage, preparing ragers for the final minutes of 2012 and the beginning of a New Year. The entire night was a succession of one amazing DJ after another. Audrey Napoleon, one of the only female performers of the evening, threw down a killer set at the Time Capsule and raged just as hard to the music as the thousands of people in front of her. Trapping the night out at the Enchanted Forest was superstar UZ, who’s face and voice remain unknown. The masked genius engaged an hour long session of heavy bass beats that inspired hundreds to twerk their brains out. Back at the main stage, LA Riots successfully kept the electro tracks flowing and was followed by fellow electro producers Cazzette. The duo rocked their infamous LED cassette tape helmets and displayed messaged to the crowd through their head gear.

Flashback Friday: Caspa & Rusko – Cockney Thug (Original Mix)

As we prepare to say farewell to the year of 2012 and welc

ome in 2013, it is time to start considering what the first song you will hear in the year of 2013 will be. As the plethora of New Year’s festivals continue to blossom, the song/dj/festival you see, will historically go down as your first memories of 2013. Dating back to 2011, I can vividly remember the excitement I had when Rusko counted down the New Year at LA’s TAO & dropped his prominent collaboration off of his & Caspa’s tandem album, FabricLive 37, titiled “Cockney Thug”. This ode’ to English culture features an excerpt from the British classic, “Snatch” and serves as a trademark single for the mainstreaminization of dubstep. When Rusko dropped this legendary number at TAO he substituted the orchestrating horns for the New Years horns to make it a moment I’ll never forget. Check the video of him delivering this New Years special below and take notice to the evolution of sound we’ve heard in dubstep’s short history. We hope we can be there with you to bring in your New Year as we look to celebrate up in Lake Tahoe, CA for Snowglobe Music Festival. Review: Rusko at The Marquee Theater (AZ)

Due to doctor’s order’s, Rusko’s show originally scheduled for 5/28/12 in the Grand Canyon State, unfortunately had to get rescheduled. Six months and one EP later, Rusko made his return to the valley of the sun on 11/11/12, and the wait was oh so worth it. Rusko – Kapow EP [Free Download]

Rusko has decided to be very, very generous to us EDM fans by releasing his new Kapow EP as a free download on his website! To call Rusko’s new offering simply dubstep would not be doing it justice; in this EP you’ll hear the man experimenting with all kinds of styles and coming out in the end with a style that is uniquely his own. The EP contains a very positive and energetic vibe throughout, but don’t fret – there are bass drops here that are powerful enough to satisfy any of your cravings. A personal favorite track of mine is “Booyakasha”, which has a sound strangely similar to the glory days of drum & bass (early Pendulum, anyone?). Take a listen to all four tracks below, and grab the album from Rusko’s website!

Rusko – Like This

The great Rusko has uploaded a new track onto SoundCloud; “Like This”, from his upcoming Kapow EP, showcases that distinct style of the veteran producer – alternating between playful melodies and crushing, growling bass sounds. This man brings the energy like no other, and the only complaint here is that the track is over all too soon. Wipe off those hangovers and rise and shine techi fans, the weather is cooling down and it’s a beautiful day. For many cities it is the wonderful weekend of Oktoberfest & this is the absolute hangover jam to motivate you back on your feet. With its calming melody, it’s very easy to close your eyes and get lost in this easy to follow beat. This track is my ultimate soother jam and puts me at complete peace. Caspa & Rusko delivered this gem back in 2009 during the dubstep revolution that was taking place in the UK to display a much softer side of the 140 bpm tempo. Swoop this off of Beatport and let this be the track to set the tone for your much needed Fall weekend.

As the premier electronic dance music festival in the north east, Electric Zoo garners massive acts and large scale productions. Rusko – Thunder Feat. Bonnie McKee (Tantrum Desire Remix)

We’re excited to announce the next single “Thunder” feat. Bonnie McKee off Rusko’s new album Songs out TODAY! With its stadium sized synths and high flying chorus provided by US songwriter Bonnie Mckee, “Thunder” stands to be one of this summers biggest anthems. Along with the single, London based DnB producers Tantrum Desire come through with the remix for the B-side.

“One thing I love about this song is the fact that I reversed the original (it was an unreleased Bonnie track) – I made the verse into the chorus of ‘Thunder’ and the chorus into the verse,” Rusko tells Rolling Stone
