Today it is easier than ever for anyone to start producing their own music with relatively low costs and we are seeing more and more incredibly talented producers developing from novice bed room producers. Insomniac recognizes that there is an immense amount of unrecognized talent out there and wants to shed some light on those individuals. They have launched a campaign called the Discovery Project that has given the amazing opportunities for very talented unknown producers to play at some of the biggest shows and festivals in the world. This time they are offering the chance to play at Beyond Wonderland and possibly the chance to land a spot on Insomniac’s new DJ management and marketing platform. To enter the contest you have to submit a 30 minute mix as well as a remix to James Egbert’s track ‘Back To New’ by Feb. 22nd. You can find all other info regarding the contest, download remix stems and submit you mix here. Good Luck!

After Flinch finished to an overwhelming applause at his last show, he was kind enough to hang outside for photos and autographs with everyone. It was very nice to see an artist this big still be so in touch with his fan base. If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Flinch yet, put it on the top of your to do list. We were lucky enough to grab an interview with Flinch after the show as well, check it out below. [Read more...]
Review: VitalSC & Midnite Present Project Mayhem

Project Mayhem has been making noise in the Bay Area for about three months now. So when I came down to the Bay area for the third Project Mayhem last Friday, I was expecting a good show. What I got was even better. [Read more...]
Technology: The V Motion Project
The Motion Project is a collaborative effort of some truly innovative minds who have combined motion technology and music production on a whole new level. The project makes creative use of the Xbox Kinect motion sensor, syncing it up with Ableton Live. The user in the video is able to control the ins and outs of the music production software using nothing but natural body motion and some solid programming. Synths, samples, loops, and even the various FX and filtering parameters are all controllable through learned movements; anything automatable in the program can be accessed. This is a truly incredible project, I look forward to what else these guys bring. Make sure to read the full in-depth article on the project HERE.
