New EDM Reality TV Show ‘EDM Casting’

After the ex American Idol headman had brought up the idea of a dance music reality TV competition, it wasn’t difficult to guess that we would see something like that even if Simon had decided to abandon the idea. Well now a website, EDM Casting, has appeared and Doron Ofir Casting is behind it. If you aren’t sure what Doron Ofir Casting is they are the people behind the Jersey Shore, so that should put things in perspective for you. There still isn’t much news on the show yet but you are able to submit an application online. I can’t say that I am very excited about this, but it definitely will be interesting to see how this all shapes up. We will keep you posted with more details as we get them.
I Am Benga: Red Bull Documentary

Just weeks after we watched Red Bull Stratos, in which Felix Baumgartner performed a world breaking supersonic free fall from space, the documentary specialists at Red Bull have announced their newest project. Unlike their normal fast paced action packed footage, Red Bull will be capturing a thrill seeking adventure of it’s own kind, as they plan to get inside the mind of the bass driven legend, Benga. This six part series will follow and expose Benga’s massive year of 2012, in which he started his own record label (Benga Beats), formed his own live show on BBC Radio 1, and the year where he “removed himself from the dubstep genre”. Check the trailer out for yourself and prepare for an inside access of one of the most talented producers in the world.

Halo 4: Original Soundtrack (Deluxe Edition)

Just this week, the industry leaders at Microsoft Studios have finally released the soundtrack to the long anticipated Halo 4, the latest addition to the iconic Halo series. Each original track was originally composed and produced by Neil Davidge. However, the deluxe edition to the brand new soundtrack features remixes from some very well known producers within the EDM world such as Gui Boratto, Sander Van Doorn, Julian Jordan, Caspa, DJ Dkee, THX, Bobby Tank, and Apocalyptica. Every track can be purchased on the provided iTunes link, but we have included a stream of each electronic remix below. On another note, the game is set to release on November 6, so make sure to pre-order this online adventure in order to avoid the inevitable lines. See you online.

Every year, DJ Mag gives viewers and fans 62 days to vote for their top DJs and producers in hopes that their favorites will make it to the top. Today marks the beginning of this countdown as we anxiously await for to see the top dog who will be leaving the rest in the dust. If you want to see your favorite DJ or producer shine this year, vote here NOW. The instructions are as followed:

Over the last 10 years Markus Schulz has fused the individual musical identities of progressive, house & trance into his own creative, now inimitable hybrid sound. He has been championing a harder trance sound lately that has given him the nick name “Unicorn Slayer”. This success can be seen in weekly DJ sets around the world played in front of thousands of people on a regular basis. He is not only an amazing live performer but he’s also known for having one Beatport chart-topper after another. Following several highly ranked positions, in 2008 Schulz broke into the Top 10 of DJ Mag’s Top 100 chart. He’s remained there for the last four straight years (polling #9 in 2011) and now stands as the busiest international DJ playing out of the United States.
