Knife Party – Haunted House EP

knife-party-haunted-house-ep

Knife Party’s short career over the past year and a half is nothing short of impressive as they have only released a handful of singles, remixes, and an EP prior to the Haunted House EP, yet they have managed to lock themselves down as one of the most sought after and influential DJ’s/producers in the game. They have taken the concepts of both dubstep and electro house and have made it their own giving themselves the most distinguishable sound out there. Rob Swire and Gareth McCullen have continued their domination of the world with their Haunted House EP as their sound continues to grow, mature, and break down the boundaries of EDM as we very well know it with their latest four productions. The first is “Power Glove” which, by now, we are all very familiar with and has proved to the world that the epicness of Knife Party is here to stay. The second is “LRAD” which we have been teased with for months in their own sets and previews which displays the newest addition to their ever developing sound with an almost tribal take on house beats mashed up with their massive synthesized sound. The third, “EDM Death Machine,” plays upon lyrics and song names of their past productions as they make it apparent that their is no turning back for them. Mechanical sounds, dirty bass beats, and a drop evil enough to inspire non-stop raging ensues as this track will get your feet moving whether you want them to or not. Finally, they finish their EP with a VIP of the legendary “Internet Friends” which, if you’re familiar with their sets or mixes, you will recognize as the version they have been dropping for about a year now. Just when we thought “Internet Friends” couldn’t get any crazier, the VIP of this song proved us all wrong and you’ll hear why below. Enjoy this stream of the new EP and don’t forget to pick up your very own copy of the Haunted House EP on Beatport below! Rage on!

Deadmau5 & Kat Von D – Satellite (DEMO) [Preview]

Screen Shot 2013-05-06 at 2.56.39 AM

The legendary couple is just full of surprises, aren’t they? Joel Zimmerman and Kat Von D have teamed up to produce “Satellite”, Deadmau5′s newest chilled out track with the unexpectedly talented vocalism of LA Ink’s finest. It starts out with a very ambient and melodic intro, demonstrating Joel’s prowess of theory and synth work. As it progresses, Kat’s singing compliments the instrumentals, as well as its rising tension, as it sweeps into a minimalistic half-step switch up. Although, the track was released in its rough draft form, we should expect some big things from this mix. Possible remixes and the inevitable bootlegs seem to be running through my mind of what’s to come. Respect to Kat Von D for her vocal skills and Joel for his ever adapting sound; these two have definitely earned some brownie points in my book.

A radio edit of a new track titled, “Gangsta” by Promise Land has just been posted by Spinnin’ Records. The preview features a minor and dark sounding chord progression leading into a melodic filled breakdown, and ultimately, to a fist pumping drop. One aspect to look out for? The transitions. The Italian duo nicely transition from the feet stomping breakdown to the fist pumping drop, and vice versa. The full track will be released May 20, but in the mean time take a listen to the stream below. Enjoy!

Discopolis – Falling (Committed To Sparkle Motion) (Axwell Radio Edit) [Official Music Video]

Getting ready for it’s release next Monday, the official music video of Axwell’s Radio Edit of “Falling” by Discopolis has been released. As a multi-genre music lover myself, I fell in love with this song the second I heard it. The vibes and musical composition of “Falling” really hit it off for me, giving off a similar feeling to the electronic-alternative style of M83. It’s great to see that Axwell is giving house music a rest and executing production in this realm flawlessly. I hope some of his fans can make this move as well and branch out to some different music that is nothing but amazing. Enjoy!

One of my favorite labels nowadays is Jaymo & Andy George’s Black Moda. So when I see a new Black Moda release, I get chills before I even have a chance to listen to it and Odysseus does not disappoint with his newest works. Rhythmic and sensual are Odysseus’s game; gotta love this guy’s style. Unfortunately this is just a preview, but we will keep you all posted with a link once this jem hits stores.

Realboy, the robotic funk master, has come to us with his most recent release, fresh off the press of Temple Music Group. Austen Jacobsen electrifies our ears with a work worthy of being swooned over, titled Cable Basics —— a multi-genred four track EP. Although this is his first official release, it is quite promising; Cable Basics features some of Realboy’s most unique sounding tunes to date. Half of the songs, one of which includes live instrumentation and vocals, were recorded in merely a couple of days, giving a sample of Realboy’s polished finesse. Check out the whole EP for a trip into Realboy’s surreal tunage.

Daft Punk | Random Access Memories | The Collaborators: Panda Bear

Panda Bear aka Noah Benjamin Lennox the founder of Animal Collective talks about his experience with collaborating with Daft Punk on their newest album Random Access Memories which will be released on May 21st. The 34 year old experimental musician has changed the musical landscape with Animal Collective and he continues to push the boundaries with his collaboration with Daft Punk on their new album. They first became acquainted when Panda Bear reached out to the robots a couple years earlier inquiring if they could do a remix of one of their songs to which they curtly replied, “We don’t do that stuff anymore.” A little while after that Panda Bear reached out to them again after doing some solo work to see if they could remix one of his own songs to which they once again said, “We don’t do that stuff anymore… But maybe we could work on something together.” Then a year and a half later Daft Punk reached out to Panda Bear inviting him to Paris to collaborate on something with them. We’ll keep you updated with more on the Panda Punk collaboration as the album release date nears, but until then check out this short documentary to get even more hyped for the impending album drop. Random Access Memories seems like it’s going to be more life changing with each and every collaborator video released.

Here we have a brand new track fresh off of the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming film – the Great Gatsby. It is instantly clear that this track was crafted specifically for the movie, but that doesn’t take away from its overall quality. “Into The Past” encompasses those heavy basslines that we have become accustom to from Nero along with melodic string progressions that play beautifully off of the vocals. The soundtrack is set to release on the 7th of May, so all you have is this preview for now. Enjoy!
