Two of my favorite producers of all time have finally come together for a collaboration! Along with Madame Buttons on the vocals, Clockwork and Felix Cartal lend their amazing electro house skills to create “The Fire”, out now through Dim Mak Records. The track begins with a deep beat, and then adds in a low bassline with fun synths. Madame Buttons comes in shortly after, signing a beautiful song to compliment the upbeat dance feel. Then in the classic style of gnarly electro, her voice fades as the track builds and breaks into a killer drop that put a huge smile on my face. Collaborations are great for the fact that two or more producers can showcase their talents in one vessel, however I think that many times one producer’s sound dominates the creation. “The Fire” is unique for the opposite reason; Clockwork and Felix Cartal have seamlessly melded their talents into one, cohesive sound that balances their musical personalities. Listen for yourself, you do NOT want to be left out of “The Fire”.

The French electronic duo from the house of Ed Banger Records has kept us waiting long enough for their live album and at last it’s here to add to our collections. Justice, composed of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay have contributed greatly to the rise of the electronic music scene, pushing the envelope with their rock star lifestyle and influenced beats in arenas across the globe. Released with 14 tracks, and every track that an unfamiliar fan would ever need to get acquainted with their boundary breaking sound, the album echoes with cries of fans in the audience that have you reminiscing of their white lit up cross blinding you in front row. The album was recorded in France at the Arena of Nimes last July and although it’s been almost a year since then, their sound still creates chills from start to finish.

Sub Focus’ track alongside vocalist Alex Clare, “Endorphins”, is nothing short of spectacular. Sub Focus has time and time again distinguished himself as one of the most versatile and precise producers in the game today. Combine that with Alex Clare’s big-room vocals and we are left with a homerun. Tommy Trash, however, decided to inject his own dose of energy into the track in this masterful, progressive remix. The remix embodies the key elements of the original track while still changing its overall structure. Any time I see a release from Bedrock, I know it’s going to be a good listen for my ears thanks to label boss John Digweed. They really hit a home run with this new one from techno legend Dave Angel, titled “Harlequin”. With over 30 years of production experience, Dave really shows that he can get a crowd moving with this groove. “Harlequin” has a very summery vibe to it with the deep chords that are heard throughout the track, keeping it fresh with a funky tech house vibe that you can’t get enough of. Give this one a listen and enjoy!

Ready for a triple collaboration from Major Lazer, Bro Safari, and ETC!ETC! ? I love trap music, and Brillz is one of my favorite producers in the genre. He has collaborated with the highly recognizable Z Trip for this ridiculous remix of Jay Z’s “Dirt Off Your Shoulder”, and I mean ridiculous in the best way possible. Not only is this track being offered as a free download, but it was also the first track featured on the Trapnation mixtape on Jay Z’s blog ‘Life + Times’. Brillz and Z Trip’s remix of the eternal “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” has completely transformed the hip-hop classic into a fresh new trap beat. It begins a trapstyle beat and builds into a funky, synth heavy drop, but that’s only the beginning. “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” continuously morphs with complexity of sounds and highlights each producer’s techniques. This preview of Zedd’s most recent remix is nothing short of hard hitting. His take on Empire Of The Sun’s “Alive” showcases his variability as a producer with two different, distinct drops. The first drop comes out with a glitchy, electro sound that demands your attention from the beginning. It leads into the original track’s chorus which is followed by a mellower and melodic drop. Mashups and bootlegs have become a hot commodity in the dance music community over the past few years. They have become a testament of what the producers can do in the studio more so than what they can do behind the decks. Though they often take much of the skill out of mixing, mashups are a great way to blend two or more songs in a harmonious union.
