SLDGHMR – Reset Album

artworks-000047706954-zdyn8h-t500x500

The latest release on Le Castle Vania’s Always Never Records featuring Miami based duo, SLDGHMR is nothing short of incredible. This 6 song album titled, Reset, features collaborations with both Louisahhh and You Love Her Coz She’s Dead. With this album, SLDGMR have showcased their innovation and ability to mesh the sounds and influence of many genres into one perfect sound. When listening to this album, I hear the groovey french nu-disco dominated sounds enhanced with the contemporary sounds of techno. While each track advertises a different feel and sound, the one thing they all have in common is the superior bass lines SLDGHMR have hand crafted. Cop the album, have a listen for yourself and enjoy the sounds of SLDGHMR!

Insan3Lik3 & Jonny Rose – Rescue Me (Original Mix)

Insan3Lik3 is quickly becoming one of my favorite producers, and the kid just happens to be a prodigy. With another release off Monstercat, the Swiss up and comer has yet another banger under his belt. However, this time, he added a little more funk to the beat. The Nu-Disco jam, “Rescue Me,” features an old school sounding drum beat with poignant synths straight from the ’80s. Regardless, the track is perfect for the upcoming Summer season. Check out the stream below, and snag a copy off Beatport today! Cheers!

Phoenix – Entertainment (Hot Natured Remix)

phonix - techi

Phoenix has been killing it this past year with their countless festival headlines this summer and their rise back to the top with the release of their latest album Bankrupt. Hot Natured has only  increased the hype surrounding Phoenix with their remix of Phoenix’s hit single off of Bankrupt, “Entertainment.” Straying far away from the original energy, hard hitting beats, and up-tempo from the original, Hot Natured turns the “Entertainment” into a very chill, disco/house track that is just as, if not more, pleasing to the ear. Thomas Mars’ vocal samples are stellar on top of the layers of funky bass, disco-inspired percussion, and syncopated synth stabs produced by Hot Natured. Enjoy!

A-Trak & Zinc feat. Natalie Storm – Like The Dancefloor (Bad Mr. Kitty Remix)

They say that a work of art can always be improved in some shape or form and that is why the artist is never satisfied with his work. Such is the case with this particular song, which initially started off a year ago as A-Trak & Zinc’s breakbeat masterpiece “Stingray,” was later remixed by Benga and Magnetic Man, re-worked by dancehall star Natalie Storm turning the song into “Like the Dancefloor,” remixed again by Shadow Child, Dismantle, and JWLS, and, finally, there was a remix competition for the song held by Beatport Play of which Bad Mr. Kitty emerged victorious. Personally, this is my favorite version of the song as it incorporates the best aspects of the song throughout its constantly changing journey such as hints of the original bass line and siren’s from “Stingray,” the seductively catchy vocals of Natalie Storm, and the poppy upbeat feel that has brought the song such success on dance floors around the world. He does this all with his own Nu Disco inspired spin upon the remix bringing all of the pieces together like never before. Take a listen and get lost in this artfully crafted feel-good dance anthem and don’t forget to purchase “Like the Dancefloor (Bad Mr. Kitty Remix)” on Beatport released off of A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Records. Enjoy!

Boys Noize – Ich R U / What You Want (Remixes)

The two singles from Boys Noize’s latest album Out of the Black, “Ich R U” and “What You Want,” have finally gotten the remix treatment from some of the hottest producers in the game. My favorite remixes of the two singles were done by Jacques Lu Cont—the french moniker of the three-time Grammy-winning British electronic musician, songwriter, and record producer, Stuart Price—and the American Indie Dance/Nu Disco duo, Chromeo. Jacques Lu Cont’s take on “Ich R U” is far darker then the original as he replaces the focus on the robotic voice and gentle funk beat with shredding synth riffs and a harder electro dance beat. Chromeo, on the other hand, does the exact opposite by putting their signature funky sound on “What You Want” with a catchy beat, a good bass line, sexy 80′s sounding synths, and even their own vocals on the track! Both remixes are incredibly cool and show the versatility of what Boys Noize’s music can be. Enjoy!

Fresh off of Ed Banger records comes a new nu disco track “When The Night” remixed by Breakbots! This track is just one of many new great tracks off Para One’s second debut album, ‘Passion’. With this Frenchman’s funky twist to the original track, it’ll definitely get those heads bobbing and toes tapping.

Kraak & Smaak – Kraak Beats Vol. 3

Kraak & Smaak return to bring you the third installment of Kraak Beats, which boasts two stellar tracks, ‘Feel Real Good’ and ‘Don’t Stop.’ K&S are notorious for incorporating soulful and funky styles that trace back to the golden years of disco and house music. This EP is nothing short of another superb house production from the Dutch trio. Starting with ‘Don’t Stop,’ is a cool, laid-back tune with vibrant layers and that smooth K&S touch. They kick things up a bit with ‘Feel Real Good’ by taking up the tempo a bit with a bumpin’ bassline. This track has that nu-disco feel with the subtle glitch and percussion. Forget winter, this track makes for an absolutely fun summer tune to throw down at your next pool party. Be sure to get a free download of ‘Can You Jack’ courtesy of Mixmag right HERE!

Earth Wind & Fire – September (James Egbert Remix) [Free Download]

Yes. Yes. Yes. I am loving this trend in 70′s funk remixes. After discovering Kill Paris’ version of “Baby Come Back” a few days ago, I came across James Egbert’s take on the Earth, Wind, & Fire classic “September.” It sounds like the original for a while but then it takes a really cool turn. This is for sure a feel-good track that is so hard to classify genre-wise. There are elements of electro & dubstep in the chorus hook, but also snippets of disco in the buildup. Check out exclusive interview with James Egbert in July here, and download it for free by liking his Facebook page.
