Wobble Wednesday: Pegboard Nerds & Tristam – Razor Sharp (Original Mix)

7337692

When the legends, Knife Party, claim that they are coming to a point when they don’t want to play a live show unless it’s with South Central, MONSTA, and Pegboard Nerds, then you know these acts must be the future of EDM. Let me introduce you to the duo consisting of Alexander Odden (Norway) and Michael Parsberg (Denmark). These guys individually have produced all over the map and in every sub genre and genre of music before coming together in late 2011 to form Pegboard Nerds. Their most recent track “Razor Sharp” is an absolut testament to their production capabilities and their creative approach. This one is topped off with a grinding intro, incredible melody, and an overwhelming bass filled drop that immaculately all come together. After listening to this track, you’ll understand why Knife Party have made these statements. Get after it – stream the track below and grab your own copy off of beatport!

Wobble Wednesday: Datsik & Excision – Vindicate (Original Mix)

What really needs to be said about this one? The two names, Datsik & Excision should say it all. This song is everything you can imagine and so much more. Datsik & Excision came together to release this one on Datsik’s Firepower Records titled, “Vindicate”. Now don’t get this confused with the middle school jam, “Vindicated” by Dashboard Confessional, because this is the farthest thing from it. “Vindicate” is a testament to all that is Datsik & Excision, as this song is a master combination of their OG dub style from a few years back and this new modern contemporary sound that’s been blossoming. What makes it even cooler? This song is coming in at a solid 110bpm categorizing it under the evolving moombahcore phenomenon. Definitely check this one out, Happy Wobbles y’all!

Wobble Wednesday: Fista Cuffs – Dark Arts EP [Free Download]

Gregory (GT) Sills, also known as the founder of Techibeats Records and half of the bass driven moombahcore duo, Fista Cuffs, wanted to personally wish you a Happy Holidays. GT expressed his holiday greetings in the form of an intricately constructed EP available for free download entitled, The Dark Arts. This three song bass-filled masterpiece showcases the hit single, “Dark Arts” and also contains a VIP edit of the track. My favorite part of the EP is the Christmas spirited rendition of Mykola Leontovych’s “Carol of the Bells”, cleverly entitled “Carol of the Bass”. The modern day drumstep reenactment created by Fista Cuffs contains a clean drum pattern that plays off of this customary jingle and bells leading into a gritty drop that should be played only on the highest quality subwoofers. Truly a job well done by the Fista Cuffs boys, GT & Peter Sims, and make sure to catch their set in the Techibeats Tent at Snow Globe Music Festival. Free download available below, Happy Chrismahanakwanzika!

Review of Figure @ 1015 Folsom in San Francisco 8/24

Figure’s performance at 1015 Folsom last Friday was nothing short of epic. The Monster of Drumstep was dropping some absurdly furious basslines that left the crowd begging for more. The supporting acts, Stratus, Johnny 5, Russ Liquid, and Thriftworks all played superb sets, throwing down everything from Dubstep to Moombahton to House. The place was packed for these guys and one of the most talked about names in bass music today. Re:Creation did it right with stacking the lineup full of great names. The ihatefun backroom featured music from James Christopher, Audio Angel, Dnaebeats, and Zaptap + Denley/B Durazzo. The place was jampacked with fans from all over the Bay Area and the music wasn’t letting down. 1015 Folsom was a Basshead’s wet dream last friday. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of Figure in San Francisco.

The EP that started the rise of one of the most prominent figure’s in the EDM industry. Sonny Moore’s initial EP, My Name Is Skrillex built a solid foundation for the artist’s sonic signature and helped develop the sound that would later be recognized in Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites, which took 8 of the 10 Beatport top 10 track slots. The Grammy award winning EDM artist has left an unparalleled mark on the scene, bringing Dubstep and bass oriented music to the mainstream. Take a listen to how Skrillex’s sound has evolved from this first EP to now.
