Weekly Dose Volume 2 with Alex Nikas and DSCO

jayko-weeklydose2

Techibeats head writer Alex Nikas and artist DSCO bring us our Weekly Dose of musical medicine. This week’s dose includes a smorgasbord of tracks with a touch of everything. I got to say that I am extremely stoked to peak into the minds of these two. I love both of their music tastes and I am sure you all will too. Most doctors won’t prescribe you with such a high potency dosage, but I am not like most doctors and I almost 100% positive that you won’t overdose on medicine like this, but don’t quote me on that.

Over the years Kaskade has made a name for himself as one of the most in demand DJ’s in the world. Last summer Kaskade embarked on a large venue ‘Freaks Of Nature’ tour and was the first ever EDM artist to sell out the Staple Center in LA. While lately he has become accustomed to playing in front of huge crowds, he just announced that he will be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his album ‘It’s Me, It’s You’ with a 9 stop, small venue tour. Ryan stated that the venues will be around 200-300 capacity and he will be playing deeper sets as he returns to his roots for these shows. More details will be released soon and you can check out Kaskade’s official statement here.

Spotlight: Evan Duffy

Evan-Duffy

In the past few months, Evan Duffy has gained a lot of attention on YouTube for his piano covers of popular dance tracks. Although he does not produce electronic music himself, he has become embraced in the community for his keen ability to recreate originally synthesized music and has even garnished the attention of several popular producers who frequently use his covers in their sets. In my mind, Evan Duffy’s transcription of electronic music helps shine an important light on the musical elements of the genre in a more traditional sense. It not only reveals a deeper beauty in the music, but also reveals a different side of the music to both non-believers and lovers of EDM alike. Luckily, I had a chance to catch up with Evan (who happens to be an incredibly genuine guy) to ask him a few questions, and this is what he had to say:

Jeremy Olander – Let Me Feel (Original Mix)

6937659

Stockholm based producer and Pryda Friends frontrunner, Jeremy Olander follows in the steps of Eric Prydz with underground progressive tracks that maintain an emotive element, breaking creative barriers and continually creating inspiring new music. ‘Let Me Feel’ is a breath of fresh air in the realm of progressive house. For ‘Let Me Feel’ Jeremy strays from a pounding club ready track and gives us a perfectly crafted emotional track, with a soulful vocal sample of The Isley Brothers ‘Take Me In Your Arms’ and a subtle but driving bass providing the undertones as the melodic topline and leads dance together to create a perfect harmony. Jeremy Olander has proven his self to be an incredibly talented producer with each release, but I feel that this one is the perfect showcase of his incredible talent and I believe he is one of the most underrated artists out there right now and I can’t wait to hear what is next from him.

Santa Barbara local Clark Kent (Tal Richards) has been receiving a lot of attention for his onslaught of primarily dubstep remixes over the past couple months, and his most recent remix of ‘Feel Me’ by The Two Friends featuring Priyanka AtreyaFeel is no different. Review: VitalSC & Midnite Present Project Mayhem

Project Mayhem has been making noise in the Bay Area for about three months now. In that short amount of time, they had put on two shows – one featuring New Zealand heavyweight Truth, and another featuring two Nor-Cal big names, Bassex & Getter. Both of these shows had at least 4 other local up & coming DJ’s opening for the big names, and from what I had been hearing were well worth going too. So when I came down to the Bay area for the third Project Mayhem last Friday, I was expecting a good show. What I got was even better. [Read more...]

Lexy & K-Paul – Love Me Babe 2012 (David Puentez Bootleg) [Free Download]

After apparently receiving a bunch of requests, German producer David Puentez has put his own spin on an older German track by Lexy & K-Paul titled “Love Me Babe”. Though the drum line/percussion remain the same, the chorus has been re-produced to a big room sound, which gives the track a whole new feel.  David has made the track available for FREE download through his Soundcloud, so make sure to pick up your copy.
