Wobble Wednesday: Datsik – Vitamin D (Album)

After wrapping up the Deadmeat Tour with Steve Aoki & supplying Ultra Music Festival with one of the heaviest sets of the weekend, Kelowna’s very own Troy Beetles, aka Datsik, plans to release his full length debut album Vitamin D on April 10th. The album will feature collaborations with Infected Mushroom, DJ Z-Trip (one of Datsik’s most respected DJs), as well as Jonathan Davis of Korn and will be released through Steve Aoki’s label, Dim Mak. Datsik has had huge success since entering the dubstep game in spring of 2009, and this album has huge anticipation for success. He has already released two songs off the album, Fully Blown (feat. Snak the Ripper) & Evilution (with Infected Mushroom) which are found below and are receiving great feedback. After blowing the roof off during his favorite Deadmeat Tour show in San Francisco, to leaving the Ultra crowd speechless, we can only hope he brings the same energy to his next big set at Coachella.

Interview: Korn

“Korn will never forget where they came from: a dark place where salvation arrives in the form of twisted, throbbing guitar riffs, syncopated chaotic funk beats, a schizophrenic bass thump and an unmistakable cathartic howl. Emerging from the depths of Bakersfield, California with a sound unlike any other in 1994, Korn have been able to cement themselves as one of the most important bands in rock n’ roll history.” Now they take their stab at the electronic world with a new album featuring Kill the Noise as well as their lead singer Jonathan Davis becoming a DJ. Techibeats very own Gregory Sills had the opportunity to interview Jonathan Davis over the phone. Weekly Wrap Up

A lot of people can appreciate good music, but do many of us know what it takes to make that good song or album? Especially within the EDM scene, artists have a lot to think about during the making of a track as well as performing it. If anyone has overheard anyone talk about electronic music in depth, bringing up terms like plug-ins or drum processing, the language is pretty unique. With music changing along with advances in technology, the complexity of the songs we call our favorite have far surpassed the simple language of chords, bass, and treble clefs.

In our exclusive interview with Fatboy Slim he puts the definition of the artist’s work a little more easily, “Always remember your job is to make people dance and smile”. Artists deserve a hell of a lot more credit though. Despite all the hard work they put into a track, they make it look easy. No matter who you are seeing or where, if the artist loves what they’re doing, you’re bound to have a great time. Starting tomorrow, Techibeats has a huge “4 Days 4 Interviews 4 Our Fans” special with artists Gareth Emery, Gregori Klosman, Korn, and R3hab. Make sure you take the time to check out what these artists have to say about what it takes for them to make a hit. So, till next time…
