They say that a work of art can always be improved in some shape or form and that is why the artist is never satisfied with his work. Such is the case with this particular song, which initially started off a year ago as A-Trak & Zinc’s breakbeat masterpiece “Stingray,” was later remixed by Benga and Magnetic Man, re-worked by dancehall star Natalie Storm turning the song into “Like the Dancefloor,” remixed again by Shadow Child, Dismantle, and JWLS, and, finally, there was a remix competition for the song held by Beatport Play of which Bad Mr. Kitty emerged victorious. Personally, this is my favorite version of the song as it incorporates the best aspects of the song throughout its constantly changing journey such as hints of the original bass line and siren’s from “Stingray,” the seductively catchy vocals of Natalie Storm, and the poppy upbeat feel that has brought the song such success on dance floors around the world. He does this all with his own Nu Disco inspired spin upon the remix bringing all of the pieces together like never before. Take a listen and get lost in this artfully crafted feel-good dance anthem and don’t forget to purchase “Like the Dancefloor (Bad Mr. Kitty Remix)” on Beatport released off of A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Records. Enjoy!
