The Underground: Maxime Dangles – Hold Up EP

Maxime Dangles is back at it again after consistent releases on BNR Trax, Kompakt and more with a 5 track EP on John Digweed’s legendary Bedrock imprint. This EP shows his diverse talent and ability to produce tracks in a variety genres ranging from electro, techno, progressive, and tech house.  However, it is the first two tracks that capture my attention the most. “Hold Up” has been a staple in John Digweed’s sets as of recent; it is a high energy progressive track with pounding bass and a constant melody that progresses beautifully,  carrying the track until the very end. “Jarten” is a blend of techno and electro that is sure to get the dance floor moving with its high octane buildups and thumping bassline. The rest of the tracks are amazing as well, so be sure to take a listen to all of them.

Electric Daisy Carnival 2012 Las Vegas: Official Recap

Simply put, this weekend was UNREAL. It began Thursday morning with a five-hour excursion from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, stopping only once for our precious In-N-Out. After finally touching down at our suite at the Mandalay Bay, we made it down the strip to the Hardrock Hotel to meet up with the rest of the Techi Team. What then ensued could only be described as a night of complete debauchery, leading into the next morning ready to head back to Mandalay Bay, where our good friends Gregory Sills and Peter Sims, together known as Fista Cuffs, played the topless pool party. Now that the darkness was approaching, it was time to call the limo and make our way to the main event – the one and only Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas. Continue on for a day by day recap of everything that went down at the Motorspeedway on this legendary weekend…

Christian Smith – Carambola EP

Techno legend Christian Smith just released his amazing Carambola EP off John Digweed’s label, Bedrock. This EP really stood out for me as a techno fan because it is very melodic and unique unlike most techno productions. It’s like a blend of techno with Jaytech, is how I would put it. Both tracks, “Carambola” and “Carambola Green” have an uplifting, yet funky techno groove throughout making you want to dance and put a smile on your face. Both of these productions are sure to be heard this summer at clubs and festivals. Enjoy!

The Underground: Weekly Top Five

Welcome to the first edition of The Underground, where we will cover new music ranging from deep house, tech house, techno, and electronica. For this edition I will be featuring five tracks handpicked by myself for standing out amongst the latest sea of releases.

Note: It is recommended to listen with headphones or quality speakers, your laptop speakers just won’t cut it for these.

Tennis aka Manfredi Romano is the head of the label and collective known as Life & Death (along with Thugfucker’s Greg Oreck) that has been taking the world by storm recently. With his newest EP “Make It Good”, Tennis has proved himself as one of the best producers in the game.  I chose this track off  of the EP because of its deep and powerful bassline along with the haunting vocals by Jeppe Kjellberg of WhoMadeWho that combine to create some of the most emotionally powerful music I’ve ever heard. Simply put this is one of the best tracks I have heard all year.
