Derek Vincent Smith, the genius known as Pretty Lights, has produced and released a recap video from his show during this past New Year’s eve celebrations in New York City. The video showcases stellar views of the NYC skyline, beautiful fans celebrating a new year, and of course, the spectacular visual show that accompanies Pretty Lights during all of his sets. PL is infamous for the amazing LED backdrops and scenery accompanying his DJ booth, dozens of lasers in every color imaginable, and breathtaking music that perfectly compliments what your eyes are seeing with what your ears are hearing. The track playing during this video is Pretty Lights’ latest single “The Day is Gone”. The song is a classic PL production featuring amazing remixed instrumentals, heavy bass, and vintage vocals. Relive Pretty Lights NYE celebrations from NYC, or for all you Pacific Northwest folks, have a taste of what you will experience from Derek this Friday at Lucky 2013 in Seattle, WA.

Following the release of Griz’s album last week, “Mad Liberation”, I have found myself non-stop listening to the electro-soul infused genre that has slowly been on the rise. With that being said, I present to you Manic Focus & their original track “We Won’t Land”. This perfect mixture of funk, reggae & dubstep has left me with a little pep in my step and an uncontrollable smile that somehow won’t leave my face. With a seemingly flawless melodic groove containing the addition of guitar playing, a heavy groovy synth, and a bass-line sure to keep you bouncing, Manic Focus has seemed to master the art of combining electronic music with a soulful inspiration. We like what we hear & will keep you posted on any future productions by Manic Focus.

When it comes to glitch hop there are very few artists in the industry that have this style down to a science, and of those few is none other than Colorado native Aaron Holstein known as VibeSquaD. With bass music culture rapidly changing and evolving, and genre boundaries starting to deteriorate, it is essential to keep things sounding fresh, and while his style can be best labeled as glitch hip, VibeSquaD does not confine himself solely to one genre and you will often hear dubstep & drum and bass influences in his work . His sounds are truly unique, funky, enthusiastic, weighty, melodic, and full of large bass driven energy and huge vibes. VibeSquad has toured and performed all over the country, and frequently appears at festivals sharing the stage with such names as Bassnectar, Minnesota, Eprom, Figure, Love & Light, Emancipator, NastyNasty, Random Rab, GRiZ, and many more. You might even be able to catch VibeSquaD this summer at one of the various festivals he will be appearing at. His tour info can be found by viewing either his Bandcamp or SoundCloud profiles.
