Riva Starr feat. DJ Sneak – In Da House Tonight (Original Mix)

7155042

The Legend DJ Sneak joins international DJ Riva Starr to provide the vocals for this groovy house track that takes you back to a time when disco ruled the dance floors. This is a funky anthem with tribal beats and full of house loops and samples. “In Da House Tonight” is an homage to the Gold Age of house music with DJ Sneak himself talking about house music and sweaty listeners packing the nightclubs and warehouses. Toolroom head honcho, Mark Knight, coined this one of the biggest tracks of 2013 and rightfully so. He is just among many huge names that have praised this beautiful production. This track will be featured on Riva Starr’s anticipated album Bateria Fantastica and is released on his very own Snatch! Records.

Darth & Vader – XXXTapes #031 [Free Download]

If you’re like me, electro house is your preferred subgenre of EDM. In that case, this hour long compilation of electro from Darth and Vader is just what you need to get you through the rest of the week. I have been a huge fan of this Brazillian electro house DJ/producer for a long time. His sounds are funky and dirty, and so much fun to dance to. Too often producers put out mixes or podcasts which feature a majority of tracks from other producers. Not this one. The 31st episode of XXXTapes exemplifies Darth and Vader quality and danceability, and most tracks are originals or remixes from D&V himself. The mix also features tracks from Knife Party, Far Too Loud, and Alex Mind. Stream XXXTapes #31 below make sure to grab the free download! May the force be with you.

Diplo & Swick – Keep It Gully (Original Mix) [Preview]

Diplo is God and no one can argue with that. But who is Swick? The Melbourne native has less than 3000 likes on Facebook, but a collaboration with Diplo can only mean raw talent and the imminent rise to fame. And with good reason. The two have teamed up to create a jungle beat track called “Keep It Gully” which will be released to Mad Decent Premium members February 4th. The track features female vocals, a simple beat, and then a transition into bubbley, funky goodness. Patiently await for when the full song will be released, and more information on the mysterious Swick comes to light. We can only expect to hear more great things from the lad.

Vincenzo Callea vs William Naraine – Turn Off the Lights (Will Sparks Remix) [Preview]

A few months ago I discovered Will Sparks when his track “Ah Yeah!” had just dropped on his Soundcloud. As I predicted, that funky banger has skyrocketed up the charts and is currently sitting at #5 on Beatport overall. Sparks, the young Australian who took my breath away three months ago, is back again with that crazy elastic sound that is entirely unique to him. Sparks has taken “Turn Off the Lights” originally a Vincenzo Callea vs William Naraine production and blown it out of the water. The Aussie transformed the progressive house track into clean, raw, electro goodness. This remix of ”Turn Off the Lights” strips away the all too familiar sounds of a hard house track and adds a bouncey bass line and beats pioneered by the incredible Will Sparks. Stream the preview of the track below while we all wait patiently and painfully for its full release.

Yolanda Be Cool – Before Midnight (Angger Dimas Remix)

Remember that one time Yolanda Be Cool had a press conference to recall “We No Speak Americano?” Well the duo is back. And they’re back with some heavy hitters. “Before Midnight” was just released today, and has officially been remixed by Laidback Luke, Angger Dimas, and Sharam Jey. My personal favorite is Angger Dimas’ which is the track streaming below. We can only hope there’s another recall because all it means is more good music to come.

TJR – Ode To Oi (Original Mix)

TJR does it again with another one of his head banging groove funk releases. “Ode To Oi” speaks for itself with it’s techtonic style and outre signature sound TJR is noted for. It’s safe to say he has created his own genre amongst the vast and widespread electro family with his innovative and funky collaborative sound. This track will definitely get your day started on the right foot.

Big Gigantic Review – Seattle, WA

Seattle’s Showbox Sodo hosted the jamtastic duo Big Gigantic this past Thursday night. The venue attracted a multitude of music lovers, all prepared to have a fantastic time and dance to a unique fusion of live saxophone and drums meshed with electronically produced beats. Big Gigantic’s members Dominic and Jeremy began the show with high energy tracks that paired perfectly with their instrumental talents. It is clear that the two have a strong passion for performing their music, and it radiates through each person in the audience. Each song kept concert goers dancing and smiling with funky saxophone solos, upbeat drums, and plenty of bass wobbles resulting in a perfect musical combination of jamtronica. The crowd responded with the most energy to Big Gigantic’s own remixes of “Get Em High”, and the infamous “I Need a Dollar”. The music of Big Gigantic enters your body through a plethora of sounds, complementary visuals, and the overwhelming sensations of bass. Head to Techibeats.com in the near future for a review of Big Gigantic’s Eugene, Oregon show, featuring Figure, as well as future shows on their Uprising Tour.
