Just this past Tuesday at SXSW, Texas was blessed with one of the most unique†performances†the United States had seen in quite some time. Joel Zimmerman, better known as dance music icon, Deadmau5, teamed up with fellow Canadian legend, Richie Hawtin for a back to back set of immense diversity. Deadmau5′s productions, which usually focus on perfectly keyed synths and heavy forward progression, vastly differ from Hawtin’s techno and minimal roots. Both artists have not only successfully driven their respective styles around the globe, but have expanded the horizons of dance music as a whole. Following their set, the two Canadian superstars sat down for some small talk, which consisted of two major topics that make these pioneers tick: music and technology. Below we’ve included a clip of their set, and encourage you to tune in for an original breath of fresh air.
