Surprisingly, many people don’t know that the guys of Swedish House Mafia have been around for years, and many miss the old school sound that was so unique and simultaneously simple. Well, it looks like we took a time machine ride back to early 2000s because the old Steve Angello is back, ladies and gents! The Depeche Mode remix of my “Soothe My Soul” has quite an interesting collaboration featuring Angello with Jacques Lu Cont, also known as Stuart Price. Lu Cont is the production man behind many well known bands like The Killers and No Doubt, and single acts like Lady Gaga. With a few Grammy awards under his belt, Lu Cont is a seasoned producer. Both guys deliver their own unique part to the track; Lu Cont’s perfected production style, and Angello’s reflection of the classic Rock song through his vision. Utilizing the vocals in a perfect way, this is a high energy track with deep sounds and well fitted drum beats. Releasing June 5th, this is a remix you won’t want to miss out on. As of today on Insomniac’s website, tickets to this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival in the Las Vegas Motorspeedway are announced as sold out. Just two years ago, the festival debuted in Sin City with an amazing turn out. The following year, even more partygoers packed each of the stages. This year, however, it is astonishing news to hear that the three day event is in fact, sold out. The lineup is said to come out in the next week, and we promise to keep you guys updated with any news.

Daft Punk’s first single off their new album Random Access Memories is the funky jam, “Get Lucky.” What can be better than Pharrell and Daft Punk forming a band and singing about sex? Nothing, is the correct answer. The French duo recently said that EDM wasn’t changing, wasn’t moving, and wasn’t making any progress, so why not add some real instruments? The feedback has been extremely better than Avicii’s take on adding live instruments to an electronic genre. The latest in Defected’s All Gone series features two of the most influential players in the electronic music scene (certainly in the UK at least) – the masters Pete Tong and Skream, working together to create a groovy, diverse mix of house tracks. Skream – one of the pioneers of original dubstep (back in the UK, where it was much heavier on the dub than it was on the wobbles), has been thrusting himself into the world of funkier house, techno, and disco tracks, although his knack for dark, bass heavy beats is still in strong display here. With Pete Tong’s unmatched knowledge of the electronic music world and Skream’s infectious energy, this mix was guaranteed to be a classic, and it is made all the better with the inclusion of new, exclusive tracks from both producers. Armin van Buuren has announced that the first single, “This Is What It Feels Like”, off his 5th studio album, ‘Intense’, will be released on April 5th. “This Is What It Feels Like” is an incredibly euphoric uplifting track with infectious piano and synth melodies, and beautiful vocals provided by Trevor Guthrie. “This Is What It Feels Like” demonstrates Armin’s ability to break the confines of his typical trance style with a more pop/dance feel. Firebeatz continues their assault on electronic music fans with “Gangster”, a track with some fierce electro energy. It’s a bouncy, energetic song that at times grooves, but mainly just obliterates listeners with its overwhelming bass presence. Major Lazer’s first single from his upcoming Free The Universe album has dropped, and those of you that are craving some moombahton and dancehall sounds will absolutely eat this up. Collaborating with several of his musician friends, Major Lazer has created a stellar, danceable track with “Watch Out For This (Bumaye)”. The horns keep the positive vibes flowing throughout and the bass drops should satisfy all cravings – making it a perfect track to blast during Spring Break. ‘Witness’, the extremely interesting new original mix from DJ/producer duo, K Theory, shows some serious influence from various bass music genres. Featuring snares from trap and some wobbles from dubstep, I’m going to simply classify it as electronic just as they have on their Soundcloud account. This is definitely a track underutilized without the help of a subwoofer, so plug in some speakers or quality headphones to fully enjoy this eccentric free download.
