This one was destined to be an anthem right from the start; Laidback Luke and Hardwell’s latest hit “Dynamo” was released off of Luke’s Mixmash Records today and boasts a big house sound that is sure to get much play during festival season.  The adrenaline-inducing synths, intense drops, and pounding, deep bass make this one a must listen for any electro or Dutch house fan. It’s a collaboration that just works well, and hopefully these two will continue working together on productions; they definitely haven’t seen the last of each other, with both performing at festivals such as Electric Zoo over the summer. Ahh, it’s such a sad feeling when a new and good song’s preview ends just as you’re getting into it. That’s exactly what happened with Will Sparks’ new track “The Viking,” which isn’t released until April 19th. Keeping his usual dutch-y style, Sparks adds a little more grungy bass to the drop, and a bit more melody in the breakdown. Yet in his own special way is able to keep his unique sound, and somehow create the best synths and use them in the best fashion. Show Review: MAKJ at Avalon Hollywood

As my friends and I arrived to the Avalon in Hollywood, the time was 10:30 p.m. and the line was already down the block. The energy was high with the usual eccentric personalities strolling down Hollywood Blvd, and the glow in people’s faces screamed, “we’re here and ready to dance.” While most club goers thought they were going to be dancing the night away to world sensation Italian duo, Nari and Milani, it was DJ MAKJ who stole the show. The way “Black Thong” starts, one would think “Shit, another progressive house song.” That’s not saying that the opening chords are any less beautiful than other progressive songs, but I think it’s safe to say listeners want a little something more. BOOM. Chris Lake & Michael Woods delivered. The build up gives you subtle clues to suggest that the song is heading in different direction, which is what makes the track that much better.
