Waiting All Night

While the Disclosure brothers have been bringing house music back to the forefront of the UK music scene, the Rudimental quartet has been looking to do the same with drum & bass; the group’s single “Feel The Love” topped the charts in the UK and drew a lot of attention earlier this year. With the group gearing up to release their debut album Home on the 29th, they’ve released yet another EP. “Waiting All Night”, Home’s third single, is truly a pleasure for drum & bass fans, featuring the intense, fast breaks and soulful vocals that we’ve come to love from Rudimental. Despite my obsession with the group’s drum & bass, this EP showcases that they are quite willing to defy categorization; “Baby” pulls off a groovy, soulful house surprisingly well, and the remixes included on the EP definitely aren’t the standard fare. A nice surprise is Skream’s remix of “Hell Could Freeze”, which really showcases the artist’s shift from his old dubstep days into the house and disco styles; the remix is a lot of fun with its uplifting, funky sounds and earning the support of a veteran such as Skream is no small feat. The Upbeats – Diffused EP

The Upbeats are continuing their rise up in the EDM world with the release of their new single “Diffused”. The duo displays their drum & bass mastery with “Diffused”, which features tight, unrelenting beats, rich production, and unique melodic touches. Also on the release is “Undertaker” – a solid, heavier track released earlier in 2012 – and a couple of remixes for the title track. The Upbeat’s full album is due out in April, to be released under Noisia’s label Vision Recordings, so keep your eyes open for that. For now, enjoy this small taste of great drum & bass to come!

Noisia – DmC Devil May Cry (Original Game Soundtrack) (Album)

The veteran drum & bass trio Noisia has decided to venture into new territories by producing the soundtrack for the new Devil May Cry game. The release is currently charting on the Beatport Top 10 which may seem somewhat surprising given its unconventional nature, but the soundtrack is loaded with a mix of solid hard-hitting tunes and beautiful atmospheric pieces. We’ve uploaded a few tracks that should appeal to the EDM crowd, so take a listen and if you’re feeling a bit adventurous check out the whole collection on Beatport.

Yes!! When the Noisia remix of “Smack My Bitch Up” released way back in October, I knew it would be a long wait to get my hands on the full deluxe reissue of The Prodigy’s The Fat of the Land. It is finally here, and it was a very rewarding wait. For those of you who’ve never heard The Fat of the Land the first time around, now’s your chance to grab this seminal big beat album – still just as vicious and refreshing after all of these years. Gobble Wednesday: Krewella – Come & Get It (Original Mix) [Free Download]

The Chicago trio known as Krewella have been destroying the scene and producing hit after hit over the last five years. If you are unaware of who Krewella is, then you first must know that the trio is compromised of two beautiful sisters and one lucky guy that they call Rain Man. What makes them unique is the fact that they explore a multitude of genres and use the Yousaf sister’s vocals to perfection on top of Rain Man’s exquisite productions. The latest production, “Come & Get It”, which was just released hours ago, is the first glimpse we have at their upcoming Play Harder EP, set to release December 10th. This song opens up extremely poppy and catchy, but don’t let that fool you because it quickly hits into a relentless drum & bass drop. Looped with euphoric synths and the good-feeling vocals of the Yousaf sisters that are accompanied by a smooth hitting drum & bass back beat, “Come & Get It” is the epitome of the trio’s production ability. Definitely scoop this one up and recognize all that is Krewella.

Michael Woods feat. Ester Dean – We’ve Only Just Begun

“We’ve Only Just Begun” has been destroying dance floors all around the world for a while now, so I suppose English DJ/Producer, Michael Woods, decided it was time for it’s official release off of his label Diffused Music. Even after all this time, “We’ve Only Just Begun” remains in almost every DJ’s arsenal of dance music because it epitomizes everything we love about dance music: beautiful vocals by Ester Dean, a catchy bass line melody that every body recognizes, and a drop that makes the dance floor lose their mind. Although “We’ve Only Just Begun” may sound familiar to you, the remixes by R3hab & ZROQ and Calyx & TeeBee are sure to keep things fresh. R3hab & ZROQ’s remix keeps the vocals and the same uptempo beat as the original, but they substitute Michael’s melodies and original composition with one of their own that works out just as well. Finally, Calyx & TeeBee take “We’ve Only Just Begun” to the next level with an old school drum & bass remix. Light and feathery syncopated synths layered upon subtle synth chords ride on a DnB drum beat to create a rather chill rendition of Michael Woods’ original festival banger. All three versions of “We’ve Only Just Begun” are simply amazing in their own ways as they each offer something unique that everyone can appreciate. The Prodigy – Breathe (Zeds Dead Remix) [Preview]

Huge news everybody. British Electronica legends The Prodigy are gearing up for their re-release of their multi-platinum album The Fat Of The Land, which will feature remixes by Noisia, Alvin Risk, Zeds Dead, Baauer, The Glitch Mob and Major Lazer. In honor of the album’s 15-year anniversary, The Fat Of The Land will re-release as a full album on December 3rd by XL Recordings. This track in particular, Zeds Dead’s rework of “Breathe,” will be available for download as a separate release on November 5th. Feast your ears on the classic track, originally released in 1996, reworked for massive play in a new era of dance music.

The Prodigy – Smack My Bitch Up (Noisia Remix)

Simply beautiful. This remix by Noisia is unexpected, but very, very welcome; The Prodigy’s “Smack My Bitch Up” was released in 1997 to huge acclaim, and here, many years later, we see Noisia flawlessly adding in their powerful drum & bass sound to the classic. As of right now, the only version available for listening is a MistaJam BBC Radio recording, but the full track will be released along with the deluxe reissue of The Fat of the Land on December 3rd – it’s a long wait, but it’ll definitely be worth it. For now, stream the radio version below and hope that we can get our hands on the full track sooner.

Wobble Wednesday: Protohype & Kezwik – Vile EP

Following our post last week where we unveiled the hype about Protohype, we are proud to present to you his latest release with 17 year-old Kezwik. This release is a massive milestone for the two bass driven youngsters, because it was released on Excision’s ever so eminent, Rottun Records. This three song EP titled Vile, is nothing short of brilliant. With an almost spooky theme, this EP perfectly emulates and prepares all bass heads for Halloween time. The showcase track on this EP is “Vile”, where they feature a very haunted build up that then drops into an earful of perfectly mastered bass. There is also a remix of “Vile” by up & comer, Koil, who adds a shrieking tone to the howling drop created by these young musical entrepreneurs.  The third track is titled “Triple Grip”, where you will indeed need a triple grip to make it through this gruesome Drum & Bass production. “Triple Grip” is a prime example of the combination of DnB with Dubstep, resulting in a terrific Drumstep creation.
