ShockOne – Universus (Album)

Destroying Beatport’s drum & bass, dubstep, and electro house charts this week, we have ShockOne’s viciously diverse new album dubbed, Universus, on Viper Recordings. Featuring his high tempo, signature sounds and a small remedy of bass heavy collaborations, we’re excited to see this Australian producer’s potential fully blossom with a sever influx of harmonic melodies and cosmic vocal samples. Collaborators within the album include Phetstsa, Reija Lee, Metrik, Kyza, and Sam Nafie. Below we’ve included a few of our favorites from the ablum, but be sure to check out it’s entirety with the provided link below.

Excision Presents THE EXECUTIONER: Coachella After-Movie

It’s not often you see a stage setup included with the artists name on a lineup. However, for Coachella 2013, not only was the name Excision accompanied by presents the Executioner, but The Executioner was in even bigger writing. Being a DJ is no longer just about playing music, it’s about your image. How you express yourself on social media, the originality in your live show, how many side projects you have, and clearly your stage setup. Coachella 2010 we saw the unveiling of DeadMau5′s cube as well as his new head and that was certainly a spectacle that started a new trend. As the accessibility to DJ and studio equipment becomes so easy, DJ’s are forced to push the boundaries and open up new hemispheres every day. While The Executioner accompanied by 100,000 watts of bass could certainly be the most remarkable and extreme set up to date, it only leaves me with one question: What does the future behold? I guess only time will tell, but for now, enjoy the official Coachella After-Movie of Excision & his Executioner setup.
Sebjak & Marcus Schossow – Liceu (Original Mix) [Preview]

Sebjak and Marcuss Schossow have brought an interesting track to the table called “Liceu.” With an orchestra full of brass instruments and a deep trumpet riff as the breakdown, you really don’t know what to expect with the drop. The layered trumpet riff stays throughout the preview and is a nice touch for the upcoming drop, while the energy level stays at a standstill. All in all, the Swedish duo have created a nice sounding track, and we can’t wait to hear the full version out April 29th! Cheers!

Pete Tong & Skream – All Gone Pete Tong & Skream Miami 2013 (Album)

The latest in Defected’s All Gone series features two of the most influential players in the electronic music scene (certainly in the UK at least) – the masters Pete Tong and Skream, working together to create a groovy, diverse mix of house tracks. Skream – one of the pioneers of original dubstep (back in the UK, where it was much heavier on the dub than it was on the wobbles), has been thrusting himself into the world of funkier house, techno, and disco tracks, although his knack for dark, bass heavy beats is still in strong display here. With Pete Tong’s unmatched knowledge of the electronic music world and Skream’s infectious energy, this mix was guaranteed to be a classic, and it is made all the better with the inclusion of new, exclusive tracks from both producers. Check out the preview below and grab the whole release on Beatport!
