Protohype just recently signed a contract for Three EP’s to be released on Datsik’s FirePower Records. What better way to thank the CEO than to remix one of his OG tracks, “Nuke ‘Em”. This track may be Protohype’s heaviest to date with a pace of 80 BPM and deep, heavy wobbles. You will also recognize filtered audio samples from the classic Die Hard series to give the song an eerie twist. This track is not for the faint of heart so if you think you’re ready for it on this Wednesday morning, have at it! The track is available to download for free below and don’t forget to check out Protohype’s Facebook page HERE.

Wobble Wednesday: Datsik – Cold Blooded EP (Pt 1)

Datsik reminds me of the Greek mythological figure, King Midas, because it seems everything he touches turns into gold. The first part of the Cold Blooded EP that we have presented for you today is a testament to the previously stated statement. With collaborations and help from Excision, Messininan, Snak the Ripper and Young Sin, this EP redefines the statement “in your face”. All of these tracks are very deep, heavy, and simply vicious. Upon clicking play on the first song of the EP which is the self titled track, “Cold Blooded”, the tone is immediately set and fails to let down until the closing seconds of the final track, “Release Me”. Lovers of wobbles and low-end bass modules, this is right up your alley and realistically when has Datsik ever let you down? Part Two of the Cold Blooded EP is set to release later this spring, and you already know we will be all over it. Catch Datsik on his current Firepower Reloaded Tour and grab the track list after the jump!

Wobble Wednesday: Example – Perfect Replacement (Datsik Remix)

UK vocalist, Example, has a one of a kind voice that has gained much international recognition and attention, not only from fans, but producers as well. We’ve seen his work altered by the likes of Calvin Harris, Jack Beats, Alvin Risk, Delta Heavy, Feed Me, Flux Pavilion, and Doctor P, just to name a few of the top dogs. Troy Beetles a.k.a Datsik decided it was his turn to have a go at Examples extremely distinct vocals. Datsik went after this with ease and executed this rendition flawlessly. With an extremely heavy drum and back beat chaperoned by a soothing melody crafted on the synths that perfectly corresponds with Examples downcast vocals, Datsik has constructed a colossal collaboration that is sure to global. I love how this song goes through a brigade of increased tempo drops. Check it out for yourself and pre-order Example’s Perfect Replacement EP through the provided iTunes link below, set to release on February 24th.

Wobble Wednesday: Datsik & Excision – Vindicate (Original Mix)

What really needs to be said about this one? The two names, Datsik & Excision should say it all. This song is everything you can imagine and so much more. Datsik & Excision came together to release this one on Datsik’s Firepower Records titled, “Vindicate”. Now don’t get this confused with the middle school jam, “Vindicated” by Dashboard Confessional, because this is the farthest thing from it. “Vindicate” is a testament to all that is Datsik & Excision, as this song is a master combination of their OG dub style from a few years back and this new modern contemporary sound that’s been blossoming. What makes it even cooler? This song is coming in at a solid 110bpm categorizing it under the evolving moombahcore phenomenon. Definitely check this one out, Happy Wobbles y’all!

Interview: Dirtyphonics

The French electro/dubstep/DnB group known as Dirtyphonics is hands down one of the freshest and most innovative groups in the EDM scene to date. Officially formed back in 2004, Dirtyphonics (composed of Charly, Thomas, Pho, and Pitchin) quickly climbed the ranks, becoming known for their massive, high-energy sound, signature tempo shifts, and reputable production quality. In addition to remixing artists such as Skrillex, Nero, and Benny Bennassi, the group has also released a flurry of chart-topping singles, such as “French Fuck,” “Vandals,” and their newest release of “DIRTY,” which is still in the Beatport Top 100 – Dubstep. Despite their undeniable reputation as chart-topping producers, Dirtyphonics are most notorious for their incredible live performance, something that must be seen to be believed. Incorporating various turntables, CDJs, MPCs, mixers, and effects processors, the group sets the golden standard for a true EDM performance. We had a chance to catch up to Dirtyphonics for an interview, read after the jump… [Read more...]

Datsik & Excision – Swagga (Datsik’s Trap VIP) [Free Download]

The track that got you turned on to dubstep just got an update: the swagger is back. Datsik’s Trap VIP remix of his classic collaboration with Excision just got put out as a free download. Although Datsik stays true to the dubstep foundations that made us initially love this song, he revamps the tune with a contemporary trap twist. The track itself also seems to reflect elements of ‘riddim’ which displays Datsik’s versatility within his own genre. With its seamless assimilation of these genres, it is now more official than ever that trap music is more than just an on-the-rise sub-genre of electronic music, now that icon and legend, Datsik has joined the party.

Gobble Wednesday: Truth ft. Datsik – No Chance (Original Mix)

Fresh off the press, we have some brand new Datsik! However, this is not new by any means, as this portray’s the OG Datsik sound that we heard a few years back. This production released yesterday on 12th Planet’s label, SMOG, was apart of Truth’s brand new EP, Evil in the Woods. With a very dark and deep intro that coincides with a syncopated high hat pattern, this song resembles what UK dubstep is all about and where it all began. I’m really feeling this song because it’s very soothing and calming, and not over the top by any means; which many modern dubstep productions have strayed away from. Get after it below & enjoy!
