Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for in the Midwest! EDC Chicago, the first Insomniac festival to finally make it to the Windy City, is here and the second stop on “The Road to Vegas” is going to be unlike anything we’ve seen before. Located about an hour outside of the city in Joliet, IL at the Chicagoland Speedway, the newest EDC will feature hundreds of the world’s best DJ’s including Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Avicii, Danny Avila, Eric Prydz, Fedde Le Grand, Gareth Emery, Hardwell, Headhunterz, Kaskade, Sander Van Doorn, Sebastian Ingrosso, and last, but definitely not least, Tiesto. Not only is this one of the best line-ups I’ve seen at a festival all year, but the festival will span from 5 PM – 4 AM each night creating that signature EDC all night party which we have become so accustomed to experiencing. Also, for the first time ever at an EDC festival there will be overnight camping available directly adjacent to the Chicagoland Speedway to provide a great way to meet new friends and get the full festival experience. If you’re not lucky enough to enjoy the overnight camping at the festival and you don’t want to make the commute to and from the city yourself, don’t worry! Insomniac has your back with shuttles running to and from the event from a few of Chi-Town’s premiere colleges. Not much is known as to what the layout of the festival will be like or what kind of production they’ll have since this is the first year, but we can only imagine that it’s going to knock everybody’s socks off just as every Insomniac festival always does. The weekend is certainly destined to be one for the books and, from my experience in this city, the overall atmosphere and crowd attending will be amazing. Tickets are still available for purchase so if you’re feeling spontaneous this Memorial Day Weekend, now would be the time to grab some tickets, get all of your best friends together, and head down towards the Chicagoland Speedway for the wildest weekend in the Chicagoland area! You won’t regret it. We’ll see you there!

Henrik B, Niklas Gustavsson & Peter Johansson – Echoes (Original Mix)

The Scandinavian house legend, Henrik B, has teamed up with the duo, Niklas Gustavsson & Peter Johansson, to produce “Echoes,” the latest installment on Avicii’s record label, Le7els. As is customary from anything associated with Avicii, “Echoes” has nothing but good vibes to offer as insanely catchy synthesizer melodies, wondrous vocal harmonies, and an upbeat feel over take the song. Henrik B was supposedly going to be one of the original members of Swedish House Mafia and for good reason too as his signature house imprint can be heard all over this euphoric summer tune. Enjoy!Â

Tim Berg – Alcoholic (Cazette’s Trapleg Mix)

Here’s a killer remix of Tim Berg’s “Alcoholic” done by 2013′s spotlight duo, Cazzette. Leave it up to the Swedish pair to make trap cool again. The track doesn’t slow down until after the first two minutes, but when the it does, I’d imagine a crowd would go just as wild as I did in my bedroom. With perfect amounts of bass (perfect being a lot), and some typical trap-sounding synths made to fit the mold of the original, this song is definitely a winner. Get the new Levels release off Beatport today! Cheers!

Tim Berg – Alcoholic (Cazzette’s Trapleg Remix) [Preview]
It seems these days everyone is taking a stab at producing trap music. Cazzette is no exception to that generalization. The electro duo have taken the track “Alcoholic” by Tim Berg, the artist formally known as Avicii and added a unreal electro trap remix to the song. “Alcoholic” in the Cazzette Trapleg remix begins with a delightfully funky back beat and progresses with intensity and build to include sirens and layers of synths. Then after the tagline lyrics of the song, “Alcoholic” breaks down into some gnarly trap beats that still include the electro influence of Cazzette. The full remix will be out on Leve7s April 19th, be sure to get the entire track when it’s released!

GQ Interview With Avicii Causes Quite A Stir

Recently GQ tagged along with Avicii for an in depth feature interview. Unfortunately for Tim the article did not paint him in the best light and lead to a heated response from the man himself as well as responses from many other DJs like A-Trak, Laidback Luke, Tommie Sunshine and Eats Everything.
The controversy was sparked by GQ’s reporter, Jessica Pressler’s account of her 4 day visit with Avicii. She portrayed his fans as party animal, drug fiends and douchebags and the superstar Swede as a bit of a pre-madonna himself. This segment of the interview caused the most uproar:
Event Review: Ultra Music Festival Weekend Two

Celebrating it’s 15th year anniversary, Ultra Music Festival has grown over the years into one of the world’s most prestigious EDM events. Boasting an impressive 7 stages in the heart of downtown Miami and an eclectic lineup featuring everyone from the superstars like Tiesto to the underground kings like Richie Hawtin and Seth Troxler. With any event of this scale, there are bound to be some problems, but for the most part Ultra did a really good job providing festival goers with the best possible experience. Lines weren’t unbearable, traffic was manageable, water was free, there were plenty of bathrooms, and getting from stage to stage was relatively easy and quick. For the most part, crossover noise between stages was minimized despite a couple unavoidable exceptions. Overall it seemed that Ultra had listened to their fans and did everything they could to make this an incredible experience for all and I think they did an excellent job. Our team went to the second and final weekend. Check out what I had to say about the festival below.

Avicii & Nicky Romero – I Could Be The One (Remixes)

Avicii & Nicky Romero’s latest track ‘I Could Be The One’ has seen massive success reaching number 1 in the UK on iTunes and Beatport. Today we have some awesome remixes of the huge progressive original from John Christian, Dank, and Bent Collective. Dank brings a hard hitting electro aspect to the song that is to sure see some love from the bass heads. John Christian shows some serious talent with his take as he gives us a complex and technically savvy take on the track that brings a high energy feel the original. Bent Collective’s remix is my personal favorite with a very club ready, rhythmically driving track that has a totally different feel from the original but perfectly incorporates just enough of the original. Enjoy!
