DeSmet, an inspiring collaboration between two brothers, Tate and Grayson DeSmet (21 and 16 years old respectively), continues to provide the utmost of relaxing and ambient melodies with a heavy indie influence and the perfect dash of shy electronica. The Virginia Beach natives spend their limited time together in the studio, as Tate spends most of his year on the West coast studying music at the University of Arizona. Today, however, we are given the Cavu EP, a brilliant combination of recovery melodies perfect for any homework session, relaxing kick back, or any mellow environment. Featuring four tracks, the EP has just released independently to iTunes, so feel free to stream the tracks below and purchase them with our provided link for constant enjoyment.

The legend himself will be bringing along Zedd and Allure for the ride as they prepare to tear down Casino Del Sol’s Ava Amphitheater on Dead Day Eve, Dec. 5th. Review: Rusko at The Marquee Theater (AZ)

Sound Wave Music Festival: Official Recap

After a quick two hour drive up from the University of Arizona to Tempe, AZ, we were lucky enough to cover Soundwave Music Festival, brought to us from none other than Steve LeVine Entertainment & Public Relations (SLE). Our night began around 9pm, and the first performer we saw was young electro prodigy, Felix Cartal. Felix took the Red Bull stage by storm and began playing some of trippiest, catchiest, and most groovy electro I’ve heard in quite some time. At this particular stage, Red Bull had set up mirrors above the decks, showing the crowd the hands of the DJ. I was blown away at his mixing skills at such a young age, and was very grateful for the unique opportunity to truly spy on the actions of the current performer. Further into his set, Felix began dropping some heavy electro house. One significantly celebrated track was Botnek’s remix to ‘Tonight’, which features high pitch female vocals and one hell of a drop. [Read more...]
