Well fans, the first weekend of Ultra Music Festival in Miami has come to a close and wow was it an amazing one. I sure hope some of you were either there for the amazing experience or streaming in from your computer via Ultra’s YouTube channel UMFTV. With some of the world’s biggest DJs playing sets throughout the day at different times and stages, it was hard to catch everyone you wanted to see as most festivals go. The wonderful thing about our post here is we have a chance for you to relive the experience through you ears, with some of our favorites from the first weekend. We apologize that some of these aren’t the full sets, but we will update them throughout the week once we get our hands on any full recordings as they arise. If you aren’t going to be at weekend two later this week, don’t miss out on the live music and tune in to UMFTV Friday-Sunday!

Afrojack Signs Exclusive Deal With Island Records & Universal Music Group

International dance music superstar Afrojack has just signed an exclusive worldwide record deal with Island Records & Universal Music Group, through his label Wall Recordings. The closing of this deal is just one more example that the big players of the music industry have recognized that electronic music is at the forefront of what is now popular and they need to get on the bandwagon before they get left behind. This is what Afrojack had to say about the deal,

“I want to take my music to the next level, both creatively and from a business point of view. Partnering up with Island Records will give me the chance to do both, so I am very happy we were able to make a deal. Island/UMG will promote my releases with very strong support and with great people working my music around the world,” said Afrojack.

Ultra Music Festival 2013 Compilation [Preview]

Ultra Music will be releasing an incredible compilation featuring the biggest and best tracks from a wide range of incredible EDM artists. The compilation album will feature tracks from David Guetta, Above & Beyond, Calvin Harris, Avicii, Afrojack, Deadmau5, Tiesto and many more. The album features several Ultra Music Festival Anthems including the previously released ‘United’ by Tiesto, Quintino and Alvaro and ‘Air Guitar’ by Afrojack as well as the unreleased ‘UMF’ by Avicii. The digital version is set to release on March 19th and the physical copy on April 2nd so be sure to check back then. You can check out the track like below.

Matchbox Twenty – Put Your Hands Up (Swanky Tunes and Ludovika Remixes)

After a massive performance in Moscow for Swedish House Mafia’s One Last Tour, Swanky Tunes has refocused their attention to claiming the EDM charts. This new remix of Matchbox Twenty’s “Put Your Hands Up” just shows that this Russian trio truly gets it; the remix’s massive sound and flawless use of vocals pretty much guarantees that it’ll be a crowd favorite. With the imminent breakup of the Swedish House Mafia, it looks like Swanky Tunes is poised to take over as the next big EDM trio.

Joining Swanky Tunes is the young Dutch producer Ludovika, who appears to be catching a lot of attention from within the EDM community – performing alongside DJs such as Afrojack, Steve Angello, and Deadmau5. His Day & Night remixes of the track prove that he’s got a great feel for the music too; both remixes are very polished, fun takes on the track, alternating between smooth, progressive house and hard-hitting electro bass.
