Movement 2017 Phase One Announcement
That time of the year has rolled up on us rather quickly, with the Movement Detroit phase one lineup releasing earlier than ever. We can only assume this is because the consecutive years of success, and history, of Movement Detroit. Each year I find Paxahau packing all the more heat in their phase one announcement, and this year is nothing shy of what we all not only expected, but needed.
The first headliner announced this year is the big man, Carl Cox, coming back from his great end to Movement’s weekend in 2015. It seems as if the people of Paxahau listened, finally bringing us Pan-Pot, a much requested act over the past couple years. The Detroit natives that lurk amongst this lineup include Robert Hood doing a live set, Kevin Saunderson performing under his old moniker E-Dancer (also a live set), Golf Clap, Carl Craig, Stacey Pullen, and many more. Juan, Derrick, and Kevin will be taking the stage this year as The Belleville Three, which should bring about a bit of history. We’re also anticipating Claude Vonstroke’s new project under his name, Barclay Crenshaw. Look for a darker sound in the underground once again, as Ben Klock is back, as well as Chris Liebing. With all of those names, number one in the RA top 100 artist Dixon, Chicago house legend Kerri Chandler, Hot Creations head honcho Jamie Jones, and a couple of Drumcode masters, Joseph Capriati and Adam Beyer, this year is already shaping up to be another successful Movement in Detroit.
Given all the talent already provided in this lineup, we can only imagine what phase two will bring us. As stated last year, I am personally hoping for Jeff Mills to make a return. We shall see!
