Wobble Wednesday: Pretty Lights “A Color Map of the Sun” [Video Teaser]

Derek Vincent Smith, whom you might know under the moniker of Pretty Lights, is just too cool. This video he posted on PLM’s youtube channel, showcasing his new album, “A Color Map of the Sun”, solidifies how cool he really is. It’s simple, the man has a vision and a passion that pours out into each and every one of his productions that is so evident and easy to absorb. Whether it’s orchestrating a symphony, playing a live instrument, correcting a vocalist, Derek knows what Derek wants, and it will be done to perfection. Grabbing sounds and emotions from all generations, decades, and cultures, Pretty Lights, has cultivated an untouchably unique and distinct sound that takes absolutely no shortcuts in terms of production. Get ready, “A Color Map of the Sun” will be exposed to the public on July 2nd, 2013.This is what Derek had to say about this video:

“The first half of this video is part of a track from the Live Studio Sessions recordings of the new Pretty Lights album, “A Color Map of the Sun.” The second half is the song that was made from sampling the first recording. The purpose of the video is to show the production process of the album; homemade vinyl + modular synthesis.”

Discopolis – Falling (Committed To Sparkle Motion) (Axwell Radio Edit) [Official Music Video]

Getting ready for it’s release next Monday, the official music video of Axwell’s Radio Edit of “Falling” by Discopolis has been released. As a multi-genre music lover myself, I fell in love with this song the second I heard it. The vibes and musical composition of “Falling” really hit it off for me, giving off a similar feeling to the electronic-alternative style of M83. It’s great to see that Axwell is giving house music a rest and executing production in this realm flawlessly. I hope some of his fans can make this move as well and branch out to some different music that is nothing but amazing. Enjoy!

Excision Presents THE EXECUTIONER: Coachella After-Movie

It’s not often you see a stage setup included with the artists name on a lineup. However, for Coachella 2013, not only was the name Excision accompanied by presents the Executioner, but The Executioner was in even bigger writing. Being a DJ is no longer just about playing music, it’s about your image. How you express yourself on social media, the originality in your live show, how many side projects you have, and clearly your stage setup. Coachella 2010 we saw the unveiling of DeadMau5′s cube as well as his new head and that was certainly a spectacle that started a new trend. As the accessibility to DJ and studio equipment becomes so easy, DJ’s are forced to push the boundaries and open up new hemispheres every day. While The Executioner accompanied by 100,000 watts of bass could certainly be the most remarkable and extreme set up to date, it only leaves me with one question: What does the future behold? I guess only time will tell, but for now, enjoy the official Coachella After-Movie of Excision & his Executioner setup.

Pretty Lights – A Color Map Of The Sun Album Info

If the single “Around The Block” didn’t fill your appetite for Pretty Lights, then we’ve got some information that you’ll be thankful for. Before jumping into details, let’s just get the release date out of the way – Pretty Lights’ new album A Color Map Of The Sun comes out on July 2nd! This time around, Pretty Lights is offering plenty of physical offerings in addition to the standard free download option on the website, which includes a beautiful photo booklet documenting the making of this album, along with a double CD and vinyl record set. Derek Smith (the man behind Pretty Lights), has described this album as a personal journey of sorts – a culmination of his independent music career, and an exploration into new frontiers of musicianship. Judging by the making of video trailer above and the first single “Around The Block”, Smith’s sessions in the studio were as fruitful and soulful as any before. Pretty Light’s first full album in a few years is exciting enough, but adding to the launch of the album is a full documentary film on the making of this album and the promise of music videos for every song (which, if they are anywhere near as good as the one for “Around The Block”, is great news). After years of occasional remixes and the rare EP, fans are finally going to have plenty of Pretty Lights to go around. Check out the video above and scour the site for some more details. Enjoy!

On April 23, Fiasko Daniels’ The EP will make quite the impact on both dance floors of electro house sets around the globe and hopefully the respected charts of Beatport. Daft Punk – Random Access Memories – The Collaborators: Giorgio Moroder

Where does one begin when speaking about the influence that Giorgio Moroder has had on dance music? His innovative techniques lead him to do things that others have never even considered. He was one of the first to ever produce dance music with an analog synthesizer and thus began to build a reputation for his quality work. Soon his legendary reputation caught up to him as he became a highly touted producer in the 70′s, making hits for a number of stars including Donna Summer. In this video, the legend speaks about his accomplishments and gives his take on Daft Punk. Watch as Giorgio Moroder praises the legendary duo in anticipation of their upcoming album release – Random Access Memories.

Wobble Wedneday: Passion Pit – Carried Away (Dillon Francis Remix)

dillon francis - techi

What I love most about Dillon Francis is the fact that he stands almost alone when it comes to his particular sound which is quite apparent in his latest remix of Passion Pit’s single, “Carried Away.” Although he remains true to his moombahton roots, Dillon Francis’ sound has developed over the years as the combination of choppy vocal samples, fat electro bass beats, and feel good synthesizer melodies have also become a staple to the fantastically unique music he produces. “Carried Away (Dillon Francis Remix)” is no different, yet although other DJ’s grow content with their style Dillon Francis continues to get better and enjoy his creations even more. On his Soundcloud for this song he wrote, “Here’s my extremely happy remix of Passion Pits song carried away… this and my suit and tie remix might be my favorites to date!!” exemplifying his ever maturing hand for making great dance music and loving every second of it as much as we are. Also, check out the short video that documents the making of this track with input from Dillon Francis and Passion Pit! Enjoy!

Wobble Wednesday: A$AP Rocky ft. Skrillex – Wild For the Night (Official Music Video)

“Wild for the Night” was the result of A$AP Rocky & Skrillex bringing their vastly different musical approaches together to form the  turn up anthem of 2013. The music video for the track is the result of the A$AP Mob and Skrillex taking their talents down to the slums of the Domincan Republic. In this highly entertaining video we see A$AP & Skrilly cruising the town on scooters, flashing some gang signs, dancing and immersing themselves with the locals and then finally bringing the party to a Dominican club. Besides their musical styles, A$AP & Skrillex couldn’t act and dress more different, but judging by this video I think we might have a new member of the A$AP Mob … A$AP Skrilly. The video ends in the club with Skrillex showcasing his DJ skills and blending in one of his newest and highly acclaimed releases on his label OWSLA, Candyland’s remix of Kill Paris’ “Slap Me”. Watch the video above, enjoy, and get used to these kind of collaborations, because this is the future my friends!
