As he promised for 1000 followers on soundcloud, Trevor Kelly released his Red Trolley EP for free download. Contained within it is two bass filled bangers with one featuring AaA. Trevor Kelly is a huge up & comer who is now based out the bay area with frequent shows at the bass music mad house known as Ritual SF. Trevor has numerous releases coming out in the next couple of months but I am particularly excited for the collaborative EP Trevor has with the co-founder of Rital SF Johnny5 that is coming out on Irie Cartel Records soon. Trevor Kelly has many big things coming so keep an eye on him!

The Reef – Ignant EP [Free Download]

If you are looking for something interesting, look no further, we may have what you need to end your search. Mad Decent is known for their particular sound and The Reef’s EP titled “Ignant” is an excellent example of what you may hear in any one of Diplo’s sets. The Swedish producer is relatively unknown yet knows how to produce a huge sound that I am sure will rattle tents and walls in the near future. Bassy, melodic, and peculiar describe this EP the most, and I would definitely not recommend skipping over this one. Your ears may just love you for listening properly.

NU-BAY$$ Vol. 2 EP

With the big success of the first NU-BAY$$ compilation from this summer, Anabatic Records has decided to go ahead and follow up with a second Volume with some of the most forward BA$$ tracks. This time, the EP features three new up-and-coming producers. First up is Bay Area local Kirin Rider, who comes through with some huge break beats with “That’s My First.” It is the kind of bumping and old school 80′s throwback that works well on any dance floor. The track is perfect for those peak times in the night and with some earth shaking bass hits, it does not disappoint. On the second tune we have Look Like, a deep house producer straight out of Switzerland, who brings it down and sexy with “Talk To Me.” It has the perfect warm chords and vibe that makes you feel good and  takes you up. It is perfect for those late night or early morning sets. Rounding out this package, we have another Bay Area producer, Travie Bobby, who brings us “Bounce That Azz.” A deeper break beat tune with a big low end, it always seems to get those asses bouncing on the dance floor. The second NU-BA$$ expands upon the success of the first with even more eclectic sounds and up-and-coming artists that deliver a unique and refreshing compilation of music. Enjoy!

Review: VitalSC & Midnite Present Project Mayhem

Project Mayhem has been making noise in the Bay Area for about three months now. In that short amount of time, they had put on two shows – one featuring New Zealand heavyweight Truth, and another featuring two Nor-Cal big names, Bassex & Getter. Both of these shows had at least 4 other local up & coming DJ’s opening for the big names, and from what I had been hearing were well worth going too. Cesar Vilo – La Karabina Remixes 2012

Cesar Vilo is somewhat of a mystery; aside from a Soundcloud page, it is nearly impossible to find information about this Mexican house producer. That’s what makes a release like La Karabina such a welcome discovery. This infectious house track hangs with the best recent EDM offerings – it’s fun, exotic, and the production is expertly done. This 2012 rework of “La Karabina” was released today on Beatport, along with a number of house-based remixes. We’ve included the original rework below along with the Jose Spinnin Cortes Dub remix, which replaces the crazy, Latin party vibe of the original with a deep, punchy sound that is just screaming for play in the clubs. Review: WOBBLELAND 2012

Wobbleland 2011was voted the best North American dubstep event of the year, and for good reason. With a massive lineup and a skull rattling system, it truly raised the bar for dubstep shows on the west coast. So needless to say Wobbleland 2012 had some big shoes to fill right off the bat, and in our opinion, they succeeded; for the most part. Overall the show was fantastic, but there were a few things that definitely could have improved the night, but well get to those later.

Monoloc – First Drift EP

German techno DJ/Producer Sascha Borchardt, better known as Monoloc, returns to none other than Chris Liebing’s CLR imprint to deliver yet another phenomenal EP which includes the first two singles off of his upcoming artist album. Monoloc has been producing since 2001, putting out records on label such as Sleaze Records and Sonata Music before finding his home at CLR.  Chris Liebing himself assisted in the mix-down of both of these tracks, assuring nothing less than the exceptional quality that releases on his label are known for .

The first track ‘Shame’ sprinkles an indie dance-esque bassline amongst a vocal that would be more at home in a deep house track, to culminate in an ultimately dark but driving track that would be the perfect opening track for techno and deep house dj’s alike. The second track ‘HH’ is peak time no-nonsense techno carried by a droning bassline punctuated by heavy drums that is a return to the sound I have come to expect from Monoloc.

Ian Pooley – Know What’s Up EP

Known for his consistently-smoldering dancefloor romancers, Ian Pooley has brought us yet another gem with “Know Whatʼs Up” released on Smoke & Mirrors. A classic R&B vocal rolls on top of a groovy bassline, while layers of uptempo claps and zipping synths give this track some serious energy.

The Barbena remix is slower and stripped-down: the vocals have been tweaked and texturized, and spacey synths lend dramatic stabs to a simplified bassline.

The Show-B remix takes you deep underground, deconstructing the original track down to an echoing series of throbbing beats and ghostly voices. A slow, continuous build of layers create a perfect ʻafterpartyʼ vibe.
