If you haven’t heard that Daft Punk’s newest album, ‘Random Access Memories’, is out by now you are most likely living under a rock. Well even after the album has been released the Daft Punk news keeps on rolling in. Apparently an additional track titled ‘Horizon’ was released only in Japan as a bonus track on the album. The track is a very mellow, chilled-out track and lacks any of the disco influence that is present on many of the other tracks on the album and there is no vocoder providing robotic vocals either. Listen to the track below and you can read our review of ‘Random Access Memories’ here.

Album Review: Daft Punk – Random Access Memories

4e6c6fb2

Over 16 years ago Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo had released their first album, ‘Homework’ and were suddenly along their way on what would end up being a journey to iconic heights and a cult-like following. Following their third album, ‘Human After All’ and their Alive 2007 tour, the duo stepped away from the spotlight. For years, rumors of the return of Daft Punk surfaced with no avail. Finally, after years of waiting and anticipation the fourth Daft Punk album has been released.

‘Random Access Memories’ is possibly one of the most highly anticipated albums of our time. In the months leading up to the release the hype continued to grow as more details about the album began to surface, detailing the collaborators on the album and the hinting at the direction that the Parisian duo had decided to take. This album is very different from any of their previous albums, however each of their previous albums are very unique. For ‘Random Access Memories’, they left behind the classic, Daft Punk electronic sound that has been so influential in shaping electronic music as we know it today to create an album that blends genres, styles and decades.

Event Preview: Escape Minneapolis

Untitled

This Memorial Day Weekend, Minneapolis will be seeing a couple of new faces come to town.  Our friends over at Sound In Motion (www.facebook.com/simshows) have planed a two-night festival-like experience held in downtown Minneapolis at Epic Nightclub. The event is called Escape. The first night of Escape will be on Thursday May 23rd and Minneapolis will FINALLY be graced with the presence of Dutch sensation Hardwell with opening support from Revealed Records label mate and friend Dyro, along with some local support. Escape will be both Hardwell and Dyro’s first time ever playing in Minneapolis so there is much anticipation building around the night.  The following evening, Friday May 24th Benny Benassi will be headlining Escape with opening support yet to be announced.  Benassi has been absent from Minneapolis since 2009.  With so much hype over the return of Benassi and the first time for Hardwell and Dyro in Minneapolis this two-night event is destined for greatness. We will have a camera crew at both nights of this event, so come find us! You can pick up tickets here!
