Armin van Buuren, the number one DJ in the world, has just proven once again why he is the best with the release of his latest album, Instense. A collaboration of this magnitude does not come around everyday. Ex Swedish House Mafia superstar Steve Angello has wasted no time on his solo career as he teams up with the legendary producer Jacques Lu Cont. Jacques, also known as Stuart Price, has made his most notable contributions to the music industry behind the scenes as a producer for big name artists like The Killers, No Doubt, and Lady Gaga. The two producers are undisputed legends in their own right and this remix of Depeche Mode’s “Soothe My Soul” shows us exactly why. It is a powerful progressive house track that embraces the original’s mesmerizing vocals in order to blend the divergent sounds of both house and rock together. A radio edit of a new track titled, “Gangsta” by Promise Land has just been posted by Spinnin’ Records. The preview features a minor and dark sounding chord progression leading into a melodic filled breakdown, and ultimately, to a fist pumping drop. One aspect to look out for? The transitions. The Italian duo nicely transition from the feet stomping breakdown to the fist pumping drop, and vice versa. Surprisingly, many people don’t know that the guys of Swedish House Mafia have been around for years, and many miss the old school sound that was so unique and simultaneously simple. Well, it looks like we took a time machine ride back to early 2000s because the old Steve Angello is back, ladies and gents! The Depeche Mode remix of my “Soothe My Soul” has quite an interesting collaboration featuring Angello with Jacques Lu Cont, also known as Stuart Price. Lu Cont is the production man behind many well known bands like The Killers and No Doubt, and single acts like Lady Gaga. With a few Grammy awards under his belt, Lu Cont is a seasoned producer. Both guys deliver their own unique part to the track; Lu Cont’s perfected production style, and Angello’s reflection of the classic Rock song through his vision. Utilizing the vocals in a perfect way, this is a high energy track with deep sounds and well fitted drum beats. Releasing June 5th, this is a remix you won’t want to miss out on. While Cedric Gervais has slowly been dominating the better part of 2013, Howard Jones did the same, only in the ’80s. Honestly, Jones’s voice could not be more perfect for a melodic progressive track, just like the one Gervais delivers with “Things Can Only Get Better.” Jones was a synthpop man, just ask your parents or bosses, and his voice is like the missing puzzle piece for house music. The melody Gervais created is heartwarming and masterful, and this will surely be a festival jam for the upcoming summer season. Check out the stream below, and be sure to check back for the release!

One of my favorite labels and producers continue to release quality melodic progressive house on a regular basis – that being Silk Royal Records and Johan Vilborg. This new collaboration remix with Mike Shiver and Johan Vilborg of Our Stolen Theory’s “Warmest Day” is a great mix of production styles that you don’t see too often. You can really hear each producer’s work in this one with Mike Shiver covering the main beat and harder electro elements. Whereas Johan’s soothing style is seen in the piano melody and big synth chords that give you those goosebumps. Give this one a listen a few times because it grows on you the more you hear it. Enjoy!

It’s nice to see Dirty South reverting back to his roots a bit in his most recent remix of MONSTA’s track “Messiah”. This extended remix is pure progressive house with euphoric synth patterns that will put you directly into a state of trance. There are no massive builds nor drops like the majority of progressive house these days, but this linear approach to the genre allowed Dirty South to create a quality track equipped with some beautiful vocals. Any fan of the music can appreciate this track, so go ahead and take a listen below now.
MONSTA – Messiah (Dirty South Extended Remix) | Beatport
Dyro’s most recent release on Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings, “Leprechauns & Unicorns, gives off a slightly different sound than were used to hearing. His progressive synth-work remains top notch, but the track has a very dark and ominous feel to it. As heavy hitting as it gets, this track is sure to bounce of the walls of any club and light up festivals throughout the summer. Go ahead and take a listen below because this track is heavy.
