Every now and then an artist comes around that captivates you with every sound he releases and every audience he touches and even more rarely do they come in packs of three. Since 2008, the trio reigning from Stockholm, Sweden has captured our hearts with every pounding anthem, allowing us to turn off our minds and turn on our hearts to a new movement of electronic music that brings people together. Through their continuous success of chart topping progressive house releases to record breaking sold out shows from Madison Square Garden to the Los Angeles Historic Park, the Swedish House Mafia have announced their split but have managed to leave us with one more unforgettable experience to say goodbye to their loyal fans. Review: Excision Executioner Tour – San Jose, CA

Last Friday, Excision’s Executioner tour roared into the San Jose Civic Center for a show that was truly out of this world. Vital SC & Midnite Events hosted the sold out show, and added even more firepower to the tours already heavy lineup with two local big names; Getter and Minnesota. This boosted the total artist roster up from 3 to 5; Getter, Minnesota, Vaski, Paper Diamond, & of course, Excision. If you are even a moderate fan of Dubstep, you know this shows lineup is huge. I knew that whatever was going to happen tonight, it would be something we would never forget. And with tickets sold out two weeks in advance, I definitely wasn’t the only one who thought so.

Rolling Stone & CoverGirl Present: Tiesto & Nervo @ Tao in NYC

On Wednesday November 7th, Rolling Stone and CoverGirl came together to celebrate the debut of Rolling Stone’s “Top 25 DJ” list and the crowning of Nervo as the new faces of CoverGirl. The night was transformed into a charity event for the thousands of New Yorkers battling the wreckage from Hurricane Sandy just a few weeks ago. With a star-studded list of celebrity guests such as musicians Neon Hitch and Swizz Beats and actors Vanessa Hudgens and Boardwalk Empire’s Vincent Piazza, along with performances by Tiesto and Nervo themselves, the night was set to be a great time. Nervo walked the carpet and got right to work with a set filled with energy. Shredding through a mix of hard hitting electro house, the two girls got the intimate party going as soon as they touched the decks. Never dropping a smile, the two wrapped up their set and introduced Tiesto to the crowd.

Review: Rage By The Pound [SF]

The Rage by the Pound tour at the DNA Lounge in SF turned out to be the craziest, filthiest,
heaviest event we have been to in a very long time. Everything from the lineup, to the tracks, to
the absolutely insane crowd came together to make this night one for the history books. What exactly happened? Read past the break to find out all the shenanigans.

Review: VitalSC & Midnite Present Project Mayhem

Project Mayhem has been making noise in the Bay Area for about three months now. In that short amount of time, they had put on two shows – one featuring New Zealand heavyweight Truth, and another featuring two Nor-Cal big names, Bassex & Getter. Both of these shows had at least 4 other local up & coming DJ’s opening for the big names, and from what I had been hearing were well worth going too. So when I came down to the Bay area for the third Project Mayhem last Friday, I was expecting a good show. What I got was even better. [Read more...]

Review: Dada Life at Sutra Lounge, Orange County

Sutra Lounge is quickly becoming the front-runner for EDM entertainment in Orange County. Premier talent the likes of Above & Beyond and Tommy Trash have been circling through weekly since the beginning of the summer. COACHELLA – Out of Indio?

Since 1999 Goldenvoice has been hosting the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA. With a guest list boasting around 250,000 music lovers for the past two years, news has arisen from Goldenvoice President Paul Tollett threatening to move his business elsewhere, saying that next year will potentially be the last in Indio. Alright Mayans, you guys were funny at first, but this is ridiculous; why move such a highly rated, successful event so suddenly and eastward?

Apparently DesertSun, the news source for Palm Springs, got a hold of some texts between Goldenvoice’s VP Skip Paige and an Indio Official regarding moving out of the city, for good.

PAIGE: Fyi, you know were moving right? All this is a game. Why in the world would we stay where we are not wanted. LQ doesn’t want us, Indio wants to take all our profits. Its a joke. You have no idea the battles we have had to fight and how much money we have lost on that show. You have no idea what its like to risk everything you own on your business. We all lost our homes, most of us lost our marriages all over Coachella. Now you think you can just come and take our profit. Its not going to happen.”  For more dialogue, go HERE
