Skream – Disco Set For Judie [Free Download]

skream1

Skream, one of the main figures in the dubstep movement has really been going back to his UK roots as of late and exploring sounds from past genres. He pioneered the mainsteramization of dubstep and has been rekindling the UK deep house garage movement as well as revamping the sounds of the nu disco. With his latest mix, titled “Disco Set For Jude” he displays his love and passion for the groove and vibrant sounds of disco. Judie, whoever you are, you are one lucky soul.

SLDGHMR – Reset Album

artworks-000047706954-zdyn8h-t500x500

The latest release on Le Castle Vania’s Always Never Records featuring Miami based duo, SLDGHMR is nothing short of incredible. This 6 song album titled, Reset, features collaborations with both Louisahhh and You Love Her Coz She’s Dead. With this album, SLDGMR have showcased their innovation and ability to mesh the sounds and influence of many genres into one perfect sound. When listening to this album, I hear the groovey french nu-disco dominated sounds enhanced with the contemporary sounds of techno. While each track advertises a different feel and sound, the one thing they all have in common is the superior bass lines SLDGHMR have hand crafted. Cop the album, have a listen for yourself and enjoy the sounds of SLDGHMR!

Insan3Lik3 & Jonny Rose – Rescue Me (Original Mix)

6782.original.png

Insan3Lik3 is quickly becoming one of my favorite producers, and the kid just happens to be a prodigy. With another release off Monstercat, the Swiss up and comer has yet another banger under his belt. However, this time, he added a little more funk to the beat. The Nu-Disco jam, “Rescue Me,” features an old school sounding drum beat with poignant synths straight from the ’80s. Regardless, the track is perfect for the upcoming Summer season. Check out the stream below, and snag a copy off Beatport today! Cheers!

Jayko – What You Want EP

artworks-000046214888-ofwomv-t500x500

Sometimes a little rumble in the jungle and some extra booty banging bass is what a composition needs to take it to the next level. California’s own Jayko, is a firm advocate of the previous statement and it reflects into every track that this young producer continuously pumps out. With his latest release on Popgang Records, Jayko has blessed us with a 3 song EP that is absolutely addicting. I have found myself keeping this EP on a constant repeat because the innovative ideas and fresh sounds provided are just too hard to come by. While each of these tracks takes their own approach, upon clicking play of a Jayko song, just know to expect an upbeat track filled with booming 808′s, a heavy DirtyBird influence, and a deep driven groove that is sure to get that booty percolating. The EP is accompanied by tracks titled, “Killa”, “What You Want”, and “Back in the Day”. The lead track, “Killa”, carries a deep bass chord progression that transforms into an absolutely smashing and slapping break down. “Back in the Day” is escorted with a catchy melody from the beginning to end that is really enhanced with vocals that Jayko perfectly implemented the track around. The self-titled track “What You Want” is deep and carries a superb vocal sample that deserves to be played on some high quality speakers to really get the full experience of a track so well put together. The flow and structure of this track are impeccable and this could be my favorite Jayko “drop” to date. Make sure to listen to this one all the way through and keep your eyes out for Jayko as he quickly establishes himself as one of my favorite up & coming producers.

Phoenix – Entertainment (Hot Natured Remix)

phonix - techi

Phoenix has been killing it this past year with their countless festival headlines this summer and their rise back to the top with the release of their latest album Bankrupt. Hot Natured has only  increased the hype surrounding Phoenix with their remix of Phoenix’s hit single off of Bankrupt, “Entertainment.” Straying far away from the original energy, hard hitting beats, and up-tempo from the original, Hot Natured turns the “Entertainment” into a very chill, disco/house track that is just as, if not more, pleasing to the ear. Thomas Mars’ vocal samples are stellar on top of the layers of funky bass, disco-inspired percussion, and syncopated synth stabs produced by Hot Natured. Enjoy!

Televisor – Alliance (Original Mix)

‘Tis the season of funk! Ever since the long awaited announcement of Daft Punk’s new album, and then the release of their new track “Get Lucky,” there has been a shift in music from mainstream to funk. Televisor adds to the movement with the track “Alliance.” Featuring some chopped up vocals, and a well rounded amount of instruments, this track most definitely has a Sunday vibe written all over it. Check out the stream below and grab a copy on Beatport today! Cheers!

Jimmy Edgar – Sex Drive (Scuba’s Dub Of Doom)

7278094

Scuba delivers his rendition of Jimmy Edgars track ‘Sex Drive’. This Indie Dance/Nu Disco tune is dark and we love every second of  it. It starts out calm and collected, then the song takes a turn after a minute build and brings you into a rhythm of a bouncy bass line. There is no mega drops or euphoric vocals on this song, just a raw and perfected beats. Quality stripped down to it’s finest. Enjoy!

Rudimental – Waiting All Night EP

Waiting All Night

While the Disclosure brothers have been bringing house music back to the forefront of the UK music scene, the Rudimental quartet has been looking to do the same with drum & bass; the group’s single “Feel The Love” topped the charts in the UK and drew a lot of attention earlier this year. With the group gearing up to release their debut album Home on the 29th, they’ve released yet another EP. “Waiting All Night”, Home’s third single, is truly a pleasure for drum & bass fans, featuring the intense, fast breaks and soulful vocals that we’ve come to love from Rudimental. Despite my obsession with the group’s drum & bass, this EP showcases that they are quite willing to defy categorization; “Baby” pulls off a groovy, soulful house surprisingly well, and the remixes included on the EP definitely aren’t the standard fare. A nice surprise is Skream’s remix of “Hell Could Freeze”, which really showcases the artist’s shift from his old dubstep days into the house and disco styles; the remix is a lot of fun with its uplifting, funky sounds and earning the support of a veteran such as Skream is no small feat. We’ve included a selection of tracks below so check them out, and keep your eyes open for the album later on this month!
