The highly anticipated release of Axwell’s Radio Edit of “Falling (Committed to Sparkle Motion)” is finally here for all of our listening pleasures. Much different from the bigroom Dubvision remix of the track earlier released on Axtone and heard in the Mafia’s sets, Axwell goes with the feel of the original track by the 4-piece electronic band, Discopolis, from Edinburgh. The mix of the live instrumentation with Axwell’s electronic production makes for the perfect electronic-alternative combination. It’s amazing to see Axwell branch out so far from his typical club sound where he has been since he first made it as a DJ/Producer, yet it speaks wonders for his musicianship as this song blatantly shows his versatility as a producer. His latest solo ventures as well as the quality productions that have been coming off of his power house label are just a taste of what is to come. Enjoy!

Getting ready for it’s release next Monday, the official music video of Axwell’s Radio Edit of “Falling” by Discopolis has been released. As a multi-genre music lover myself, I fell in love with this song the second I heard it. The vibes and musical composition of “Falling” really hit it off for me, giving off a similar feeling to the electronic-alternative style of M83. It’s great to see that Axwell is giving house music a rest and executing production in this realm flawlessly. I hope some of his fans can make this move as well and branch out to some different music that is nothing but amazing. Enjoy!

Boards of Canada Announces New Album “Tomorrow’s Harvest”

Boards of Canada fans were in for a surprise when a Redditor posted an interesting sample that he found during 2013′s Record Store Day, featuring a short clip of familiar-sounding ambient melodies amidst static. It was soon discovered to be part of a larger viral campaign that had fans scouring the video for eerie videos, codes, and audio clips; the hard work payed off and we’ve been rewarded with the announcement of Boards of Canada’s first release since 2006. This musical group helped define the ‘intelligent dance music’ scene along with artists like Aphex Twin, and their prowess with creating mystical, hypnotic music has been dearly missed. Fans of the group have been rejoicing with the great news, but if you missed out on the group during their initial run now’s the time to get caught up. We’ve included a few of their older tracks below, which should get you ready for when Tomorrow’s Harvest launches on June 10th with 17 new tracks.

Timo Maas – Lifer (Album)

LiferWith the influx of new talent in the electronic music scene, it’s always nice to see one of the veterans still hustling and holding his own. Timo Maas is certainly one of the more experienced members in the scene – starting off his DJ career in the 90s and earning a significant amount of mainstream recognition in the early 2000s – and you can hear it on Lifer with his polished house sounds and album-oriented production approach. There’s plenty of diverse sounds on the album; from the intense and progressive “Train In My Kitchen” to the intimate and moody “Articulation”, Lifer covers plenty of ground and holds many surprises. Andrew Bayer’s album If It Were You, We’d Never Leave just dropped today, and it was well worth the wait; for fans of mesmerizing, ethereal electronica and powerful, head-nodding beats, this album will satisfy with its 16 quality tracks (17 if you count the iTunes bonus track). Bayer isn’t an easy artist to categorize – his tracks more visual and exploratory than a lot of the drop- and chord-focused offerings that have largely taken over the electronic music scene here in America – but some core elements of his work include a rich, textured sound, layers of beautiful melodies, and an occasional funkiness. Take a listen to a selection of tracks below, and definitely check out the full release (I’d recommend the iTunes version, which is cheaper and comes with a bonus track).

Rudimental – Waiting All Night EP

While the Disclosure brothers have been bringing house music back to the forefront of the UK music scene, the Rudimental quartet has been looking to do the same with drum & bass; the group’s single “Feel The Love” topped the charts in the UK and drew a lot of attention earlier this year. With the group gearing up to release their debut album Home on the 29th, they’ve released yet another EP. “Waiting All Night”, Home’s third single, is truly a pleasure for drum & bass fans, featuring the intense, fast breaks and soulful vocals that we’ve come to love from Rudimental. Despite my obsession with the group’s drum & bass, this EP showcases that they are quite willing to defy categorization; “Baby” pulls off a groovy, soulful house surprisingly well, and the remixes included on the EP definitely aren’t the standard fare. A nice surprise is Skream’s remix of “Hell Could Freeze”, which really showcases the artist’s shift from his old dubstep days into the house and disco styles; the remix is a lot of fun with its uplifting, funky sounds and earning the support of a veteran such as Skream is no small feat. We’ve included a selection of tracks below so check them out, and keep your eyes open for the album later on this month!

Durante – Challenger EP

The four track EP by Durante, recently released by OWSLA, is a fusion of varying tempos and styles. The first track, “Take A Look” is a deeper, smoother track than the rest of the EP. “Radio” is a bit more of an electro-oriented track but Durante can be heard taking the same stylistic approaches on rhythm and synthesis aesthetic on this one as well. The last two tracks, “Challenger” and “Crash”, although slower than the rest of the EP, still retain those house grooves making this a solid EP from up and comer Durante.

Andrew Bayer has released another track from his upcoming album If It Were You, We’d Never Leave, and it continues to showcase his masterful skill in mixing genres and creating beautiful, textured pieces. “Lose Sight” is a track that combines bumping hip hop beats with folksy guitar samples and upbeat piano melodies. As the song takes a moment to slow down and the blissful, otherworldly vocals start to creep in this track will truly send some chills down your spine. Take a listen to it below and also check out the excellent Ghosting Season remix of the track, which features a more minimalistic take on beats and layers of echoing electronics. Late Night Alumni has just done a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere”. For those you who do not know who Late Night Alumni are, they are Kaskade’s side project/band. The lead singer, whom has collaborated on some of Kaskade’s biggest hits like “Dynasty”, “I Remember” and “Move For Me”, gives us her spin on Fleetwood Mac’s original with her airy vocals and soft tone. In addition,  I can hear Kaskade’s old school house influence all over this cover with his classic kit and keyboard skills. This little piece is for your weekend when you need a minute.
