“We’re up all night to the sun. We’re up all night to get some. We’re up all night for good fun. We’re up all night to get lucky.” If you haven’t read these words on any social media outlet, or haven’t heard them uttered from Pharrell’s majestic voice then you’re seriously missing out! Daft Punk’s first single off their new album Random Access Memories is the funky jam, “Get Lucky.” What can be better than Pharrell and Daft Punk forming a band and singing about sex? Nothing, is the correct answer. The French duo recently said that EDM wasn’t changing, wasn’t moving, and wasn’t making any progress, so why not add some real instruments? The feedback has been extremely better than Avicii’s take on adding live instruments to an electronic genre. Daft Punk’s natural ability to create music that everyone wants to listen to will forever be their signature. Check out the release below, press repeat, and patiently wait for the rest of the album. Cheers!

Seven Lions – Days To Come (Coyote Kisses Cover)

One of the main subjects that DJs are talking about right now is the future of Electronic music. Many think it’s taking over, and some believe that it’s just a phase. Coyote Kisses’ cover of “Days To Come” proves to listeners that the ways an EDM artist can transform a track are endless. Their goal was to incorporate more live instruments to make something new, special, and different. They succeeded. Sit back, relax, and let the sounds of the guitar melt your face.

Flashback Friday: Chemical Brothers BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix 3-5-1995

Damnnn we are going way back. We’ve got some major 90′s beats for you on this Flashback Friday. I take you to March 5th, 1995, when Biggie Smalls was still alive and old-school hip-hop was at at its peak. Picture the Chemical Brothers in Pete Tong’s recording studio, ripping it up on their vinyl turntables. The British duo were pioneers in bringing the “big beat” movement — that is, the use of repetitive synthesizer loops — into the forefront of popular culture. The buildups, drops, and crazy basslines that have become the standard of today’s electronic music were made popular by these guys. What’s more, the radio was incredibly more prevalent then. In the middle of the DJ set, the music is interrupted by a breaking news report. What a trip, right? Take a moment for this piece of history and pay respect to the origins of the electronic music we know and love today. It truly is a slice of the past and I am still reveling in the novelty of it. Ya feel me?

Electric Daisy Carnival 2012 Las Vegas: Official Recap

Simply put, this weekend was UNREAL. It began Thursday morning with a five-hour excursion from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, stopping only once for our precious In-N-Out. After finally touching down at our suite at the Mandalay Bay, we made it down the strip to the Hardrock Hotel to meet up with the rest of the Techi Team. What then ensued could only be described as a night of complete debauchery, leading into the next morning ready to head back to Mandalay Bay, where our good friends Gregory Sills and Peter Sims, together known as Fista Cuffs, played the topless pool party. Now that the darkness was approaching, it was time to call the limo and make our way to the main event – the one and only Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas. Continue on for a day by day recap of everything that went down at the Motorspeedway on this legendary weekend…
