Wobble Wednesday: Bro Safari & UFO! – Animal LP [Free Download]

bro-safari-ufo-animal-cover

Alas, it is finally here, I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this for way too long! Bro Safari & UFO! have been hyping up an album for over a year that has never hit the market, but I can rightfully say that the wait was worth it. This 10 track LP titled, “Animal” has something for all lovers of bass. Whether you like moombahton, glitch-hop, trap, dubstep, downtempo, uptempo, drum & bass etc. there is something for you! It’s quite impressive the genres that they spanned and how stunning each individual track turned out. I’ll keep the review short and let Bro Safari & UFO! do the talking:

Here it is. The album that we’ve been talking about for over a year. Scheduling conflicts be damned, we made it happen! Yes, the process was long, and at times it was even a little grueling, but we stuck to our guns and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

Originally, we created about 16 tracks for the album, and then we narrowed it down to the songs that you have in front of you today. It was important to us that we create a collection of music that crossed multiple styles and genres, yet told a coherent story. It’s not an easy thing to do, but we feel like we pulled it off by using themes, samples, techniques and by consciously assessing what did and did not work together.

We feel like there is something for everyone on this record and we’re very pleased with the fact that we can offer this to everyone for free. All we ask is that you listen to it with an open mind, share it with your friends and come say hello whenever we play a show in your city.

So, once again – Thank you to each and every person that showed us support over the last few years. We love working together, and have already discussed plans for a follow up album.

For now, enjoy ANIMAL!

Sub Focus & Alex Clare – Endorphins (Official Music Video)

The catchy Sub Focus track “Endorphins” is officially a music video! You might have heard the original or maybe the Tommy trash remix, but no one can deny that Alex Clare’s voice sounds like he’s saving lives all over the world. The video features a SWAT-like team that doesn’t want people listening to music, so they destroy their records and music players, which literally sounds like the worst time imaginable. How would you, Techi readers, feel  if the government told you that you couldn’t listen to music anymore? Let us know and enjoy the video!

If you’ve never heard of UK’s four piece live bass driven band, MODESTEP, then it’s time to get outside. These guys have been re innovating the art of a live performance and have flawlessly incorporated the classic genre of rock/ heavy metal with the evolving genres of bass music. They have already made their mark on the rest of the world and just finished providing a one of a kind live set with their debut North American headlining tour that ended last week in Coachella. With the major success and positive reaction from this tour, they have graciously provided a three song EP titled, “Inside My Head”. This EP is filled with emotion in the three tracks, one which is a collaboration with Teddy Killerz and the vocals of Ghetts fittingly titled, “Inside My Head”. “Prevolution” is the second track on the EP which showcases their superior musical and production talent that results in a relaxing and beautiful composition. The third song of this EP was the highly anticipated remix of Ryan Keen’s “All This Time” which could possibly take the cake as one of the best MODESTEP songs to date. Listen for yourself and make sure to check MODESTEP out as they make their way around the summer festival circuit.

Monsta – Messiah (Feed Me Remix)

feed meIt’s clear that anything Feed Me touches with his fingers of electronic magic will be perfect. His remix of “Messiah” originally by Monsta is yet another example of this perfection, and shows a more subdued side of Feed Me we aren’t used to. Instead of his usual massive womps and grinding synths that blow your ears apart, Feed Me has utilized a less intense production sound to this remix. It has a very high level of BPMs, and the lack of bass is almost quizzical in what we expect from Feed Me. Don’t let that deter you from the beauty that this song possesses. The vocals are the focus of this track, and the melody beneath them is fast and catchy, complimented by a piano riff. Listen to this unique production for yourself, something a little different from the norm for Feed Me.

Wobble Wednesday: The Toyes – Smoke Two Joints (Terravita Remix) [Free Download]

With 4/20 just a few days away, what better day to release this remix of The Toyes notorious “Smoke Two Joints” than Wobble Wednesday? Thanks to Boston’s own Terravita (also Hot Pink Dolorean), we have something great to prepare us for this national holiday. With a dubbed out intro containing some nice vocal choppage on the legendary hook made popular by Sublime’s Bradley Nowell, this track perfectly sets itself up for mayhem. The feel that Terravita gives this track is almost a mariachiesque vibe before being absolutely taken over by a powerful drum & bass drop. Very clever and nifty remix from the boys of Terravita and we can never complain when we are given a free download. Enjoy!

Rudimental – Waiting All Night EP

Waiting All Night

While the Disclosure brothers have been bringing house music back to the forefront of the UK music scene, the Rudimental quartet has been looking to do the same with drum & bass; the group’s single “Feel The Love” topped the charts in the UK and drew a lot of attention earlier this year. With the group gearing up to release their debut album Home on the 29th, they’ve released yet another EP. “Waiting All Night”, Home’s third single, is truly a pleasure for drum & bass fans, featuring the intense, fast breaks and soulful vocals that we’ve come to love from Rudimental. Despite my obsession with the group’s drum & bass, this EP showcases that they are quite willing to defy categorization; “Baby” pulls off a groovy, soulful house surprisingly well, and the remixes included on the EP definitely aren’t the standard fare. A nice surprise is Skream’s remix of “Hell Could Freeze”, which really showcases the artist’s shift from his old dubstep days into the house and disco styles; the remix is a lot of fun with its uplifting, funky sounds and earning the support of a veteran such as Skream is no small feat. We’ve included a selection of tracks below so check them out, and keep your eyes open for the album later on this month!

Wobble Wednesday: Zeds Dead & Omar Linx – Cowboy (Remixes)

The mere collaboration between Zeds Dead & Omar Linx was a revolutionary thing for the industry within itself; combining the raw power of bass music with hip-hop’s lyrical flow. Their first EP,Victor, released just under a year ago and was a massive hit within the underground community. They have since continued to release new tracks together, but perhaps none bigger than “Cowboy”. The original mix hits you like an emphatic punch with the perfect blend of strength and musicality. Such a track could not go unnoticed by fellow industry favorites the likes of Torro Torro and Congorock. Both have offered their own renditions in this remix package along with lesser known UZ and DC Breaks. Wobble Wednesday: Zeds Dead – Hot Sauce EP

With the plethora of big releases since the start of 2013, it was only time before the ever so popular duo, Zeds Dead, put out a compilation of originals on an EP for our listening pleasure. Zeds Dead have always taken the dive into different genres, but this EP titled, Hot Sauce, ventures into a very experimental territory, perfectly suited for a release on Mad Decent. The EP kicks off with the dark and wobble filled track titled, “Demons” which features excerpts from classic horror films. The ensuing song is the rather liquid and bouncy song, “Playa” which is followed by the minimal and groovey synth packed number called, “Mr. Sub”. For fans of fast UK rooted breakbeat pieces, “Rave” is for you! The last song on this 5 track EP titled, “Trouble” really catches my ear and definitely has a lot of that Zeds Dead recognizable flare we’ve grown to love. All of these songs are sure to add some extra vivacity to the duo’s already exhilarating live performance. With each song being so unique and containing it’s own pizzazz, they each represent a unique flavor that serves as an ingredient in this Hot Sauce, which will be your favorite?
