Review: Resolution Seattle, WA

Five, four, three, two, one. Happy New Year! Seattle, Washington raged into the wee hours of New Year’s morning to celebrate the incoming of year 2013. The white and gold themed party attracted approximately 9,000 ravers to Wamu Theater, Seattle’s home to all massive raves. The electronic music celebration hosted two stages appropriately named “Time Capsule” and  ”Enchanted Forest”. Ticking LED clocks surrounded the main stage, preparing ragers for the final minutes of 2012 and the beginning of a New Year. The entire night was a succession of one amazing DJ after another. Audrey Napoleon, one of the only female performers of the evening, threw down a killer set at the Time Capsule and raged just as hard to the music as the thousands of people in front of her. Trapping the night out at the Enchanted Forest was superstar UZ, who’s face and voice remain unknown. The masked genius engaged an hour long session of heavy bass beats that inspired hundreds to twerk their brains out. Back at the main stage, LA Riots successfully kept the electro tracks flowing and was followed by fellow electro producers Cazzette. The duo rocked their infamous LED cassette tape helmets and displayed messaged to the crowd through their head gear.

To bring in the new year USC Events designated a dubstep innovator clock master: Rusko. The cockney thug hyped the crowd up with gnarly bass and grimey beats that literally made my brain vibrate in my skull. When the final seconds of 2012 ended and the clock struck midnight, 6,000 balloons and 500 pounds of confetti rained down upon all present at the main stage. The explosion was a solid five minutes of nonstop white and gold. After Rusko the mood of the night shifted to some Trance 2.0 with W&W taking over the Time Capsule. The DJ/producer pair was my favorite set of the evening. They dropped killer hard trance tracks that I had to dance to including my favorite song “Waiting” in the W&W remix. To wrap up the night Mord Fustang controlled the decks at the main stage and rang in the new year epically. Resolution was a wonderful party celebrating the magic of a new year, new friends, and electronic music. USC Events knows how to rage for the holidays in the most perfect ways. Their next massive production will be Lucky for all of you lovers of the Irish. The annual St. Patrick’s Day rave already has a killer lineup begun, with Pretty Lights and Arty leading the EDM storm. Lucky hits Seattle March 15th.
