Interview: Arty

It’s no surprise that Arty has become one of the biggest/youngest names in the EDM world over the past year. With big room house productions like “Around The World”, “Kate” and “Mozart”, the young producer seems to have marked his spot in the industry for a very long time. Climbing over 50 places in the DJ Mag Poll to number 25 is a testament to his energetic and unique sounding performances. Our news reporter Shea Hausen had the opportunity of interviewing Arty in Ibiza after his DJ set.

Techibeats: How are you doing Arty, first time playing in Ibiza or no?

Arty: It’s my 3rd time, it was really fun. You never know what type of music will be playing out here and the island leans more to deep house and techno music so I didn’t really know what to expect but it was great.

Techibeats: How do you prepare your set for Space compared to playing a set in Russia or America?

Arty: To be honest, I usually just go with the same sound and energy I always do no matter where I play. It’s a combination of a lot of different tracks from House, Trance, a little bit of Tech here and there. It was really cool to see everyone liked my set tonight.

Techibeats: What are your plans for the rest of the season, are you playing out here again?

Arty: I’m probably going to play at Space again in July, there’s not much info yet but we’re working on it right now. There’s a lot of things going on in America right now for this summer, I’m doing IDentity tour for July and August, so it’s really important I find time to get back here to Ibiza because I like it so much.

Techibeats: What are your plans for the rest of the night? We know Ibiza never sleeps haha.

Arty: I actually have to go to the airport. I have a flight at 10:30am so I’m going to catch a few hours of sleep before it.

Techibeats: Do you have a new album in the works or any tracks?

Arty: A lot of collaborations, a lot of new tracks, really trying to finish up these 4 or 5 tracks that I’m working on. The Electric Daisy Carnival is coming up so I’m trying to finish 1-3 tracks before it.

Techibeats: What kind of response do you get from Europe compared to America? I feel like your sound is more geared towards the U.S electronic scene.

Arty: I feel like right now it is a little geared geared towards America just because I play there so much. I have a small hint of the electronic sound and I play it all set, but yeah…compared to a year ago, there’s not so much trance in my set but I’m still trying to get that emotional sound with a vocal and cool melodies. I like creating an atmosphere of emotion.

Techibeats: A lot of people associate you with trance, why is that?

Arty: Yeah I don’t get that, because even in 2009 when I started to produce it still wasn’t that Trancy. I just create the music that I like, I don’t think when you produce you should have a single direction.
