The M Machine is made up of 3 members from San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood who have been signed onto Skrillex’s OWSLA label. They shroud themselves in mystery but one thing that is known is that they consider themselves producers first and DJ’s second which is clearly evident on the first half of their debut album Metropolis Pt. 1. The EP is a journey through the rise and fall of a future metropolis and there is a story to be told from beginning to end. The trio brings to life their unique sound in creating a plethora of electronic music with sounds raging from electro house, dubstep, synth-pop, and ambient that make it hard to label them with any one genre. That however is truly where the album shines as The M Machine successfully break the rules and shatter the confinement of fitting into a single genre. They’ve received rave support from some of the biggest names in the industry including Skrillex (obviously), Benny Benassi, Madeon, Penny Birdrabbit, and their good friend Porter Robinson, also a member of the OWSLA imprint. This EP is certainly not the last we will hear from these young producers. If there isn’t already enough of it now, expect to see more buzz created around The M Machine as they tour the country playing festivals throughout the Summer.
